Cleaning white tile and grout in the shower.

I will NEVER ever EVER have a white tiled shower or bath again.  I'm constantly trying to stay on top of the cleaning but our water is so hard and it seems to stain instantly.  I had been using a very hard brush and individually cleaning each tile ;and square inch of the tub/shower area with scrubbing bubbles and bleach.  I need some suggestions on what may work better, or possibly last longer.

Alternatively, I have seriously considered bath fitters..and if you know me..I HATE bath fitters!

Re: Cleaning white tile and grout in the shower.

  • Once it's clean, apply Turtle Wax to the walls. It'll repell water and soap scum. Don't use it on the floor of a shower or tub.

  • Have you tried CLR? If you do, wear gloves and ventilate!
  • My mom told me to use pan spray. I haven't tried it though.

    Thanks for the suggestions.

    What is CLR?

  • Best thing I've used is equal parts bleach + water, spraying that on the tiles and grout, letting it sit for about 15 minutes, scrubbing like a mad woman, and then rinsing.

  • Is the grout sealed? That should prevent most of the staining, especially if you do it once a year or so.

  • Lurker popping in.... Soft Scrub is my absolute favorite for this job. When I was in high school, I worked as a maid in a hotel and used Soft Scrub all the time. Works like a charm!

For real?  I was actually thinking of doing that, but everyone looked at me like I was crazy...
