early game as promised

watch the video below (sorry not clicky):

report back with what your state stereotype is and if you think it is true.

currently i live in VT where there are a lot of gay marriages on maple syrup farms.  we do have both, but they are not usually hand in hand.  although we do like our farm weddings out here.

  • Colorado: "Snow!  I mean cocaine.  But we're also known for skiing."

LOL, too funny.  The skiing/snow part is a no brainer.  But the coke reference is hilarious.  Big epidemic right now.  Especially in Highlands Ranch where trophy wives have nothing better to do than drive kids to soccer in their Lexuses and Range Rovers and do blow.

  • Brew, I thought that one was funny too!  We have sooooo many friends in CO who love skiing, and snow.  Both types...
  • Florida the only place the more north you go the more south you get. Yes I would say this is very true.

I'll also throw in Rhode Island since I was born and raised people not believing we are a state this is somewhat true. Some people would be like "Oh you mean Long Island?" Um, no it's really a state there are only 50 of em.

you would be surprised how many people don't know where VT is, that it is it's own state, etc.  I am dumfounded.

  • hahahahahahaha!  Love it!!!!

Wisconsin- "It's too cold to be sober."

um, yeah that's true.  bottom line.  However, our people don't discriminate, they drink in the cold, warm, or hot tempatures.

There are many, many towns in Wisconsin that have a ratio of about 100 people per bar (or even less than that).  I mean, FIL lives in a town with population about 700, but there are 6 bars in the town.  Really?!?!?!  Is that necessary?!?!?

  • GTL - Guidos, turnpikes and leeching off NY.

Have I mentioned how much I hate all the NJ based reality shows?  Almost all of the people on them are from Long Island - not NJ.

  • Speed limits don't matter when you're drunk. MT.

Umm ya we are like 3rd in the country for drunk drivers and would be first if they knew the real stats. The speed limit thing comes from up until like 8 years ago our interstates didn't have a limit...you just had to drive for the conditions. If you have ever been here and driven the interstates you would understand. We now have 75 mph and you can't get a ticket unless you are going 10 over, the 10 over interstate tickets don't go on your record and are $20 on site. You have to be going 15 or 20 over to get an actual speeding ticket.

The town I grew up in has 4 bars and 1000 people. H's hometown has 500 people and 3 bars :-) Yep we're a drinking state.

  • Texas-"everything is bigger, even our morons"

I can't dispute, we definitely have some morons here!

  • Fun!  I like the CO one too. :-)

    Where I grew up:

Indiana - "You have to drive through us to get somewhere better."  Fo' sho.  There are a bajillion interstates in that state that all lead you past corn, soybeans and cows and not much else.

    Where I am now:

Maryland - "Have Jeeves bring the lobster boat around."  Um, I'm not sure I get this one.  I would think it would be a crab boat with MD crabs...?  I guess maybe he's insinuating that people are snobby around here?  I can see that...

OMG these were two of my favorites!  (along with the dakotas, WA, and OR)  i think he was poking jabs at your crabs and the snooty/wealthiness of your state :)

  • Massachusetts - "Our chief export is obnoxious Pats fans."  Come on, he could have done MUCH better than that.  To that I say, we also have obnoxious Red Sox, Celtics, and recently Bruins fans too.  How do you pick just one?

I agree, total fail. There are way better things to tease us about.

  • BAHAHAHA!!! I actually laughed out loud at the MI one, cereal makers and serial killers. There are so many other stereotypes about Michiganders that this one just surprised the heck out of me. The whole video was pretty funny, though. Also, regarding people not knowing that RI is a state and the likelihood that they would know it if they had passed second grade, when I was living in Spain (and all of my classmates were American) the rest of my class got in a big fought with me in class because they were insisting that America has 52 states, the 50 main (contiguous) ones, and then Hawaii and Alaska. I finally had to go on google to shut them up. Our instructor, who was Spanish, believed my classmates.

I don't know... as a Colts fan, I think the Pats fans might just be the most obnoxious part about Mass. Stick out tongue

No way this Mass one is totally appropriate!! The thing I hate most about New England is the awful Pats fans! Wink  Pat's fans tend to talk a lot and not know very much about their team... my favorite quote "The Pat's have been in the top 5 teams in the NFL for the past 25 years"  rrrriiiiiiiiiiiight

Currently in RI granted it's tiny, but you have no idea how many people I've met on vacations (in this country) that have NO idea what it is.  I always get oh I love long island. ::shrug::

  • LOL

NY - World's 14th biggest city, first biggest ego.

I agree that if you live in NY most people do tend to think they live in the greatest state ever, and their ego's are as huge as their bank accounts. However, I think people tend to think we are obnoxious and snotty, which a lot of people here (especially NYC) are, but no more then most other large cities.
