Ultrasound ?

Hi all!

Just got done with my 19 week ultrasound, and it went great!  Baby looks healthy!!  One question:  the tech had a difficult time finding the sex, and was hesitant to say, but said she was pretty sure with her guess, and told us her guess.  Anyone have this happen and had the guess turn out wrong?

I am not too worried about this, I actually wanted to have a surprise and my DH wanted to know (since I made him wait with K), so it actually works out well.  I am just overjoyed that baby looks healthy!!!  yay!!!

Yes- My sister- they guessed a "GIRL" and I have 2 nephews :) Apparently Wyatt- or would have been Alexis- was very shy!

They weren't 100% sure on El till we decided to do a 3D US. But I would be happy either way.

SO glad new baby looks good! AND! How are you 19wks already?

  • Congrats on a great ultrasound and healthy baby!  I don't know about the not being sure of the sex thing.  I've never personally known anyone who was told one thing and it was the other.  Ours was very obvious, so I don't have any doubt about that.

  • Congrats on the healthy baby! Yes, ultrasounds can be wrong; we both know a few people who were told one sex, but the opposite was born. I wouldn't be running out to buy pink or blue just yet! Will you have additional ultrasounds? (We had one at nearly every appointment due to a health concern so I'm not sure of the common procedure.)

Thanks ladies for the nice words!!!  I am on Cloud 9 right now.  Thrilled to see the LO!!

Sept- we won't have another one (I don't think) unless we have complications.  So, this was it till the delivery!!  The tech said she normally would see 3 black dots for a girl, but couldn't get a close up of those, because baby's legs were so tight together (and we took 2 breaks to see if she/he would move), but she also did a Level II, so took tons of images, and didn't see Mr. Winkie or a scrotum, so her guess was girl!!!  But, LO was tight in the fetal position the whole time, so we are still up in the air!!  Kinda fun having a strong guess, but yet, still a surprise!!!

It sounds like your tech was very thorough, so my money is that she's right, but I still wouldn't run out and buy up the pink since she did call it a guess. :)

The OB's office in my SIL's town has a huge reputation for getting it wrong, for both genders. SIL didn't want to find out what she was having because she didn't trust it to be right anyway!

  • I can't believe you are 19 weeks already! WOW! So happy for you. :-D

Teem Green is the way to go. It's so much fun!
