TLC's new show - My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding
Did anyone happen to catch the sneak preview of this the other night?

I saw part of it. It was a little weird...but I was sucked in (started watching halfway thru).
Did they give any background in the beginning of the episode? I kinda don't get the gypsy/traveler thing and what it is....
They did, it's almost like a religion. They have their own sets of rules, like girls can't make the first move, ie talk to a boy, the boy has to "grab" the girl. Once a girl has been "grabbed" then they are to marry, or some crazy sh!t like that. Once she is engaged, she can't be alone with her FI, always have to have a chaperone. And they marry as young as 16.
What got me was the extravagant dresses, dresses that weigh as much as 70 lbs.
The show will be on again friday.
And here I was thinking summer reality tv would suck!
I saw the young girls dancing at the communion party thing....wow! They certainly have some interesting moves for being all of 10 yrs old.
