Where do you go for shellac manicures? How much is it?
I went to Cosmos Nails at 12th and Walnut and I liked it, just want to try something else.
Re: Shellac in center city?
Some people claim it can last for up to 3 weeks, but I find it lasts about 2 weeks, so the higher price makes sense since I'm getting manicures half as often.
Plus the polish stays shiny the ENTIRE time. It's great for swimming because the chlorine does not detoriate it like it does to standard nail polish.
There is definately a difference in how places do it. ie Fiji Nails in Ardmore started to chip the very next day (can we say pissed!), but Drexeline Nails in Drexel Hill are chip free.
I pay $35, but I've seen it cost as much as $50 (Milleniaum Day Spa near or in Ardmore).
After taking the Shellac off, did you notice your nails felt much weaker underneath? Similar to how they feel after you take acrylics off?
I've heard this about the OPI Axxium, but also hear that is harsher.. i've been considering trying Shellac, but don't want to damage my nails and be forced to keep getting it done.
Mine were fine -- much better than when I get acrylics taken off. I soaked a cotton ball in 100% acetone and adhered it to my fingers for 15 minutes with tin foil, then used an orangewood stick to scrape it off (sometimes it comes off in 1 big piece, sometimes it flakes off). After I took the polish off, I filed and buffed them and they were just like normal.
