Re: Book Poll!
2. What book are you reading now? I've been about to start Maeve Binchy's 'Circle of Friends' for like a month. SIL got it for me for Christmas and swears it's amazing.
3. What are some books on your want-to-read list? 'Stepmonster,' 'A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius,' 'Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close.'
4. Favorite author? I don't really have one. My favorite book is by Mary Doria Russell.
5. Favorite book when you were a kid? Definitely 'A Wrinkle in Time.'
1. Favorite book you read for school? I don't remember the name, but my Senior year we read this book about a woman who traveled with an Abroginal tribe in Australia. It was very interesting. I need to find it again.
2. What book are you reading now? I'm working my way through Water for Elephants
3. What are some books on your want-to-read list? I would love to read Hunger Games. I just need to find the time to do it.
4. Favorite author? I have always loved Louisa May Alcott.
5. Favorite book when you were a kid? I had a lot. I loved reading Goosebumps, the American Girl series, and the Giver.
1. Favorite book you read for school? The Twenty-One Balloons in 4th grade or The Book of Ruth in 12th grade---both were great!
2. What book are you reading now? A lazy summer mystery novel (called, appropriately, though somewhat unimaginatively Mystery)
3. What are some books on your want-to-read list? Bossypants by Tina Fey, but I'm too cheap to buy books so I'm waiting until it's available for the Nook through the library
4. Favorite author? I don't really have one
5. Favorite book when you were a kid? I loved the Little House series
Fun Book Fact: The speaking agent of Rebecca Skloot (who wrote "The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks") is calling me this afternoon so I can try to negotiate a way for her to come speak at UCO. This is my first big attempt at getting an author to come through my new gig, so I'm a little nervous/excited since I really loved the book and think she'd be a great speaker!
1. Favorite book you read for school? Night by Elie Wiesel.
2. What book are you reading now? Heart of the Matter by Emily Griffin.
3. What are some books on your want-to-read list? Off the top of my head I want to read the new Sookie book, and the new Stephanie Plum book that comes out this month (?), Hunger Games (and the rest of that series), the Outlander series, and several others that I can't think of.
4. Favorite author? I guess I should say J. K. Rowling just because the Harry Potter series is my absolute all-time favorite.
5. Favorite book when you were a kid? It was a toss up between Wacky Wednesday and Hooper Humperdink...? Not him! Both are Dr. Seuss books.
1. Favorite book you read for school? Either A Separate Peace or To Kill a Mockingbird
2. What book are you reading now? The Girl I Left Behind by Judith Nies, it's a memoir of a woman working in politics and fighting for equality in the 1960s. I just started it yesterday and so far I'm enjoying. I finished The Paris Wife by Paula McClain a few days ago and loved it.
3. What are some books on your want-to-read list? I have the Hunger Games series on reserve at the library, but something like 50 people are ahead of me. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is sitting on my desk at work, but I just haven't started it. I also have a few of Ernest Hemingway's novels and some biographies about him ready to pick up at the library, inspired by reading The Paris Wife.
4. Favorite author? Probably Judy Blume, not just for her books (which I love), but also for her anti-censorship advocacy.
5. Favorite book when you were a kid? Man, I don't know if I can pick just one. Here are a few: To Kill a Mockingbird, Tiger Eyes, A Wrinkle in Time (I was obsessed with the whole series), Rifles for Watie
1. Favorite book you read for school? I really enjoyed the Great Gatsby.
2. What book are you reading now? I just now finished Along for the Ride by Sarah Dessen on my lunch break.
3. What are some books on your want-to-read list? I don't really have a list. I haven't had free time to read in a long time. Since I'm not taking classes this summer I made a goal to read at least 3 books for pleasure (hopefully more). I just finished my first and now I'm trying to figure out what to read next...(which is why I created this poll
)
4. Favorite author? I really like Sarah Dessen (although her books are more geared towards teens, I still love reading them!)
5. Favorite book when you were a kid? I can't really think of too many that stand out. I did really like the Giver and Among the Hidden though.
