vent re: why I need to nag

DH is standing up in a wedding.  He has to buy his own all black suit (and we are on a budget!).  He has known this for months.  He hasn't even started looking and he has to have it in his hands by Wednesday evening.  Plus he will be super busy this weekend.  I asked him a month ago if he was ever going to go shopping and he complained that I was nagging him... so I haven't said anything since.

I guarantee this is going to end badly.  =(

Re: vent re: why I need to nag

  • Boys are crazy.  If you are allowed to nag again, send him to Kohl's, Chris got a super nice suit there for $150 and it was normally $400.  It was on sale for something crazy like 50% off and then we had a 30% off on top of it.  They have a new sale starting on Wednesday the 8th.  I got a 30% in the mail, so I am sure you can google for coupons, too bad you didn't live closer to me to share it!

Ditto this, however our 30% came in the mail for my Kohl's Charge.

    You can also try Penny's.

  • Oh well, if he doesn't want you to nag then don't and when he doesn't have a suit it will be his problem not yours.
  • what would they do w/out us????
  • This reminds me of when DH's grandma passed away a few years ago.  The DAY OF THE FUNERAL he puts his suit on and it is WAY too small.  I had to run to Kohl's to buy him a new one.

I would definitely check out Kohl's.  I think I got DH's for less than $100 total.

  • Macys had a few really great sales on suits as well.

I have been asking Chris to get a passport since before we got married..it has now been 4 years hahahaha

  • If we didn't nag nothing would get done!  I hate that they tell us we're nagging and when we don't say anything and they realize they forget we get the "Why didn't you remind me?!"  Men.

I have been asking my DH to get his passport as well. For about 5 years now.  He doesn't think he will need it. Uh....

Sadly, Mr McVay will probably waltz right into the store and grab something off the rack and be out of there in 15 minutes.  Men get away with such things. Can you imagine if a woman waited that long to buy an outfit?!  It doesn't end well.

  • While we were at Kohls last night I MADE him look at the suits... he looks ridiculous in them.  His arms are too long or something and he would need them altered.  He actually tried to ask the bride if he could wear the one suit he owns, which has faint pin stripes in it.  I was like... you did what!?  No, the bride said all black.  Whatever.

Yeah those 30% off coupons I think are for Kohls credit card holders and this is for an out of town wedding that we leave Friday morning for..... UGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

  • My DH has to wear a 42L vs. a 42R in jackets that we get in stores like Kohls or Penny's becasue of his monkey arms.

A few years back,  we did get one of MW lower ended suits for around $200.  This was with all the alterations that needed to be made to the pants and the jacket.

You can always check GLC or drive to Macys.

  • That would irritate me too.  Big time.

  • I would definitely try Mens Warehouse.  DH got his suit there and they were super helpful, did alterations in house, come in long (DH is super tall but maybe it would help on the length of the sleeves for Matt), and was under 200 bucks.   Let us know how it turns out!

  • It's probably not the best option, but if you're going to be near Von Maur in Livonia, they do in-house alterations for, some for free (thing hemming, etc...).  They're probably a little pricier, but their credit card is 0% interest all the time.
