So I work in a business casual office. If we don't have court, usually it may be on the more casual side. I noticed a big change between the two offices I have worked in. So far I have seen:
Flip Flops
Men wearing tank tops and jeans
One shoulder shirts or shirts with the shoulder cut outs
Lots of leggings, esp with those who shouldn't wear leggings
Fishnet stockings
Trackpants
I like being able to wear jeans to work, but I think a lot of this in inappropriate. Would this fly at your office?

Re: Summer work attire
flip flops & leggings are ok here, everything else is a big no.
We kind of get the stink eye for flip flops though if we walk around a lot, so I generally avoid those and opt for dressier sandals.
Certain departments in our company are allowed to wear jeans on Friday, but flip flops are a no-no. Some people wear them though and get away with it, depending on who their boss is. It kind of amazes me the things people wear sometimes. Some people really push the word "casual" too far, IMO.
We also have legging offenders...I just don't think they're appropriate in my particular office, yet people wear them! Girls really push the envelope with skirt and dress length too. I'm really shocked that half of them haven't been called into HR's office and reprimanded.

What the what? First off, when did those come back in style? Second, are your coworkers prostitutes?
Joking, obviously, but yeah, that is over the top.
Our office is business Mon-Thurs and casual on friday, which means we can wear jeans (no shorts), flip flops, sneakers and more casual shirts (people wear tees and sweatshirts).

my work is tough to fit into a specific attire category. technically we are casual. i am currently wearing capri jeans and flip flops and thats perfectly fine.
if i know im meeting with a client i will wear a skirt/dress or dress pants. depending who the client is, i'll go with a business suit. if im just hanging out in the office, jeans are fine. most days ill wear heals and a nice top. if im in the field (literally in a field), i will try to wear a polo shirt if im meeting with clients/agencies and then work boots. if im doing field work (delineating wetlands, catching turtles or bats, or doing archaeology work) its jeans and a ratty tshirt. sometimes i'll wear shorts or like cargo pants depending what im doing and how hot it is.
our accounting and marketing departments wear track suits and sweats to work. they dont get in trouble for it, although i think its inappropriate. i guess the consensus is that they dont interact with clients so its NBD.
our owners and service group managers typically wear khakis and button down shirts each day, but this isnt a requirement.
the only thing my boss has ever told me was that i cant wear shorts (although last summer when CW was 9 months pregnant in July, she did and they didnt say anything to her). i wear flip flops all the time but im not allowed to wear them in the field for obvious safety reasons. i do typically wear them when driving though.
As for the fishnest, that's just plain trashy.
None of those would fly here. Some of the other floors are allowed to wear jeans on Fridays and the ladies can wear flip-flops but not on my floor (I'm on the same small floor as the exectutives so we always have to be dressed nice).

When I worked in an office, we were bus. casual M-Th and jeans were fine on Fridays. There wasnt really a rule about shoes, so flip flops were fine in the summer. We werent allowed to wear shorts but some girls would wear bermuda shorts. Some of the receptionists wore some really tight jeans or short dresses/skirts. I'm not sure if they were ever reprimanded but I do know a friend was written up for wearing shorts one summer.
We're not allowed to wear shorts or skirts that hit above the knee. Which is fine with me.
Capris are ok though.
I wish we'd get casual Fridays. I'd love to be able to wear jeans to work. No one sees us anyway, my art dept is hidden upstairs in a makeshift cave.
You can wear literally whatever you want to work here. I wore yoga pants to work after my surgery and no one looked twice. I feel like if I went all the way to patterned pj pants, I might get some funny looks, but then again I really don't think anyone notices or cares what people wear as long as you're covered up.
Today I'm wearing a dressier Ann Taylor tee and an above the knee skirt with flip flops.
Yesterday I wore jeans, a Mavs tee and tennis shoes.
One of my bosses wears polo shirts, cargo shorts or khaki pants and sandals every day.
The other one tends to wear tee shirts or soccer jerseys and jeans.
Stand up for something you believe in.
We're supposed to be business casual, but we pretty much lean towards casual. This is just at my specific site that it's more casual. Most people wear jeans, some guys wear khakis and a polo shirt or button up. I don't believe we are allowed to wear tank tops or tube tops. Jeans and a t-shirt are the least casual you can be.
If you work in the lab area which is designated as a "sturdy shoe" area, then you can't wear flip flops, flats, heels that are too high. I work in that area so most women wear sneakers or loafers.
Nope. None of the above would fly. We would be sent home.
We're not even supposed to wear jeans ever. Not even on Friday. However, I'm totally wearing grey jeans today and I haven't been sent home yet.
But yeah. Arms need to be covered, no flip flops (although we can wear like the fancy ones - just not the like rubber ON ones or anything), no track pants, no leggings.
We're business casual Monday through Thursday, then can wear jeans and nice tops or company-emblazoned tee shirts on Friday.
What bugs me is that we're not allowed to wear "dress shorts" (that hit at or just above the knee and could be worn with a suit jacket), yet we can wear skirts that hit mid-thigh. Say what? Dress shorts show LESS leg than most skirts, but they're not okay? Also, we can't wear "capris" (mid-calf) except on Fridays. Crop pants are okay apparently any day of the week since they're considered "just above the ankle." This is entirely ridiculous. I wore a cute pair of dress shorts to work once that came just above the knee and I looked very professional. I barely got away with it. However, people walk around here in tapered, old knit pants that show panty lines, knit tops that are too short, and shoes that basically look like Crocs. Or Birkenstocks.
We're not allowed to wear flip flops, but I'm wearing them today because my feet are swollen and if anyone dares say anything to me, I will pull the pregnancy card and proceed to flip the eff out.
hells no- We are only allowed to wear jeans on fridays and that is if you make a donation to the local charity for the year.
Normal is business casual but since we meet with vendors on a regular basis we usually dress up quite a bit. I usually wear dresses in the summer but they are usually knee length and if they dont have sleeves I wear a sweater of some sort. Even flip flop type sandals arent usually looked well upon....
Our office is weird. There's a bunch of small groups in our big office and no one higher power manages all of us (like..my boss's boss is in the UK. Another groups bosses are in NY, another groups bosses are in FL) so there are general rules but no one really enforces anything.
We're business casual Monday through Thursday with casual Fridays. It's supposed to be no jeans, no shorts, no sweatpants etc but there's a guy who's been here for 15 years and I've never seen him in anything but jeans. I think someone used to say something to him about it and he'd wear pants for a day and go back to jeans the day after, so they gave up.
There's another girl here who has been in...they're either leggings or skinny sweatpants..and sneakers every day for the last 6 months. I don't know if she had surgery or if she has no pants that fit or what...
There's another woman here who is at least 45 and has come to work in black leather pants and lime green furry Ugg-style boots (like..skinned a Muppet fur).
Another woman came in today in capri workout pants, platform flip flops and a T-shirt that her bra strap keeps falling out of. If What Not to Wear showed up at our office, I'd have a hard time figuring out who they were here for.
My group is 3 people and my boss could not possibly care any less about what I'm wearing. I still wear business-casual clothes, but we've both come to work in jeans on a day where we're running late or just aren't feeling getting dressed up and no one seems to notice or care.
