Does anyone know of a way to look at FL death certificates online, for free or a small fee?

I believe you need to go to the health dept. to do that. I don't think there is an online database that can pull that up for you. Legal beagles, can LexisNexis do that for you?
Do you KNOW the person is dead, or wanting to verify?
When MIL died (in MA) we had the option of calling the town clerk or going in to see them. I paid $10 per certifited death certificate, and lists either natural, accidental or suicide as cause of death (checkbox) and a brief "cause".
If you're looking for a coroners/medical examiners report - it will only be released to next of kin. Although DH and I are the ones that found MIL, they would not release to us, only FIL.
Laws may be different in Florida ...

Sorry, posted before I finished. I'd start by calling the town clerk in the town the death was registered in and/or checking out their website. When I went in, the certificate was in a big binder, and there was nothing that had been scanned and/or online.
