What's the best DIY stainless steel cleaner?

Specifically, for a sink.  My sink is very dull and I can't seem to get it sparkly again.  I've read baking soda, lemon, scouring with steel wool... what's the best DIY recipe for this?

Re: What's the best DIY stainless steel cleaner?

  • I want to keep an eye on this thread - my ss simplehuman trashcan always looks so cruddy - want it shiney.
  • When I used to use dryer sheets, I would "recycle" them by using them to wipe down all of the stainless steel in my house - makes it super shiny. I'm sure it's the same concept with the PP's trashcan too. I would definitely clean it first with the baking soda/vinegar, dry it, and for the shiny effect use the dryer sheets. If you're not using dryer sheets (like myself) the baking soda will clean and the vinegar will shine. I would stay away from using steel wool on it, as that seems like it would scratch the surface.
