Re: Short mommas

  • I had to tilt the steering wheel up quite a bit.  It wasn't a problem when I was driving, but I hit my belly getting in and out of the car.  So tilting the wheel helped.

Oh, the joys of being pregnant!  :)

  • Ah I don't know why I didn't think about tilting the wheel up! Probably because I hate it when people have it all the way up. I'm afraid I'll look like a little old granny with it tilted up probably to the point you can only see the top of my head ;-)

  • I'm not sure if I'm considered short (5'4") and have had no issues so far.  But I always keep my steering wheel tilted up.  Probably because I drive a standard and would smash my legs everytime I shifted if I didn't.

You won't look like a granny, you'll look like the adorable pregnant woman that you are!

  • Aww thanks Erin!

  • Hope you figure something out Alicia! It's definitely not safe to be uber close to the wheel in case of an accident (pregnant or not). I'm average height and I remember near the end having a hard time turning the wheel b/c of my belly. I didn't drive in the snow b/c I didn't feel comfortable that I'd be able to maneuver quickly if necessary!

  • I don't really remember having a hard time driving, I'm only 5'2. I know I put my seat back just a bit, but nothing major.

Yep... I tilted the wheel up all the way. Thank goodness I have power seats so I could move it all the way back when I got out/in the car and then could move it up so I could reach.

We're the same height.  I don't know if I'll have to worry about it though because I've got long legs for my height and a short torso.  I probably won't have much room to fit a baby, or belly, and will be knocking myself in the chin with it, but I'm thinking I'll be able to still be ok in the car.  I never really thought about it though.

I had to tilt my steering wheel as well at the end. I scheduled a week of vacation before my official maternity leave started too. The worse was when I couldn't fit in booths anymore when we would go out to eat.
