My BFF got a STD for a wedding next year for one of her snooty "frenemies". So of course, we immediately jump online to look at her registry. She had lots of expensive stuff-- but whatever, I had a dyson on mine and some waterford wine glasses so no judgement there. UNTIL------- we saw that her silver flatware was $1200 PER SETTING!! She registered for 10!!!!! We know her family a little and they don't come across as being mega-wealthy (teachers, etc), but DANG! Seems a little greedy to me- but you never know- maybe she'll get them!!! I just could never see the need of having $12,000 worth of forks in my house- ya know? C'est la vie!!!
PS- other items included several $300 silver trays, about $3000 worth of copper pots including a $400 polenta pot. My friend is going to get the $50 toilet brush and squeegee and call it a day.
Re: Ok- I'm going to judge this wedding registry
LOL!!!!! Yes indeed!! I don't think I even have $12k worth of furniture in my house.
Who likes polenta enough to have $400 pot for it??????
And what's wrong with Crate & Barrel flatware? We're not in an age where people even use formal silver anymore!!!
I'd totally be side-eyeing her. I'm side-eyeing my 22 year old cousin who has $170 sheet sets on her registry (the towels are only $64 each!). Um, hi, you're 22. You're going to move a lot in the next 3 years, and might not have the same size bed every time.
My truck isn't worth as much as her silverware!

Seriously, though. I bought my 2002 car in 2005 for $5,200. And I use that a whoooole lot more than I would any fancy silverware.
That's just plain dumb!
That is just plain stupid. I didn't even register for fine china because A.) I didn't have anywhere to display it, B.) I knew that we wouldn't use it in the next 20 years so why get it now so it can sit in a box, and C.) There were other things that I wanted/needed way more than some fancy schmancy plates and forks.
You know what's interesting-- her fine china was "only" like $129 per setting at BBB. So with a coupon-- not overly extravagant for a wedding gift. I guess she didn't want to come off as too greedy-- hehe.

Yeah, I wondered the same thing. Maybe she didn't get that it was $1200 per setting and thought it was $1200 total. Or maybe she didn't even notice the price - I know there were some things that we registered for assuming they were reasonably priced, and deleted them when we realized they weren't. (Though trust me, nothing was $1200. I wouldn't even put the $100 sheet sets on our registry because I thought they were ridiculous.)
