Job Offer! Kinda long, sorry

Finally!!

I just got a call back from my rep at the staffing agency.  The company I interviewed with last week offered me the job!  I'm pretty much in shock right now, as I didn't think they were going to.  Wouldn't you know it that the interview that I felt I did the worse on ended up being the one where I am offered the job.   I told her I would accept and the start date would be set for June 17th.  I also told her I am pregnant.  She said that because the staffing agency is "hiring" me, I will get their benefits.  I am not required to let anyone at the company know I am pregnant unless/until I want to.  It is a 3 year contract, so when I take a few months off to have the baby, she says they will hire a temp to take my place for that time.  It sounds so unbelievably perfect!

Except... it's not the type of job I was looking for.  It's Admin Asst. related stuff.  Although, that's pretty much what I have been reduced to here.

Pros:  Much better commute, slightly higher pay, more/different responsibilities, larger company, great company for my resume, hopefully can "get a foot in the door" and maybe work up to a better position.

Cons: Not a creative job I was searching for, might not have flex time, might be more high stress

I think I would kick myself forever after if I didn't take it, though.  I have felt "stuck" here for a while now.  Who knows?  Maybe I will love it!  All of the people I met -at least 6- were very nice and easy to get along with.  It could be great :)   Gotta take the plunge!

It's going to be sad telling my coworkers.  I just told them Tuesday that I am pregnant and my ol' boss actually gave me a hug.  I guess he "called it" when I left for a Dr.s appointment the other day.  They are so excited for me and Kevin.  It will be bittersweet.

  • You girls are so good to me.  Thanks so much for the congrats and the encouragement. I spoke with my rep again to confirm my acceptance and they are already preparing to send me paper work to sign and all that.

Now I just have to get through breaking the news to my boss Indifferent

  • I ended up telling him Friday...  He said he can't blame me for wanting to go there, since it's a really good company.  Then he started to go into panic mode, though.  Saying he has to get his daughter (who already has a full time job...) in as soon as possible so I can train her. He asked if I have a friend who would want the job.  Uh, no?  I wouldn't do that to my friends... Said he was going to have to try to call one of the Universities here that has a website program.

So, at first I felt bad because I honestly don't think he's going to find someone right away like he needs to.  But then again, he didn't offer any reason for me to stay.  If he's not willing to try to keep me, then he can have fun trying to find 2 people to take over what I did by myself.  Good luck with that! Smile
