Back from Italy

Hey gals, the fact that I've posted a couple of times means that I'm home from our trip, obviously.  I just felt I should announce it officially! ha

Verrry tired wow.  And I unfortunately have some cons from this trip actually, not all great as I expected Italy to be.  I certainly put it on a pedestal all these years.  :-/ But still very glad DH and I got to get away and see another country. Always worth it to experience a new place, and new people.

Venice was my absolute favorite and I recommend it to anyone for the romance, charm and friendliest people ever.  Helpful, kind, and smiling Italians all around there.  You gotta like boats tho!  I found it peaceful to be on the water, and loved the little labyrinth that it is comprised of. We took a day trip to Lido from Venice, and loved it there too.

Wish we had done a day trip to Rome instead of actually staying there, as it was overpriced on all things, and literally full of the rudest girls I have ever encountered, that's a fact.  They cut you me in line, (like straight up walk around and in front of me while waiting for the bathroom; literally each time) and they stare at you up and down so obviously, and are SO awful in the shops and restaurants.  There was this air of snide and cattiness all around.  Yucky yuck. The hotel people in Rome were super nice however.

Anyhooo, glad to be back, although the weather over there was much nicer then it has been in CA lately!!!

Re: Back from Italy

  • Glad you had a good trip, for the most part.  I tend to think rude people are just super jealous and insecure about themselves.

I've never been out of the country, and actually never been farther west than St. Louis, so I hope DH and I can travel someday!

    Do the creep.
  • Glad you had fun (for the most part) and were able to have some unique experiences.  I studied abroad in London for a month in college, and it was honestly one of the best experiences in my life.  Italy is one place that I want to go, but I have heard similar things about it from other friends who have been there.
  • I'm sorry your trip wasn't what you were hoping for. I went to Italy in college with my major. Unfortunately we weren't Italian majors because I think that might have helped a little. We went to Milan and Venice. I loved Venice, but we were only there for part of a day. Milan, however, was terrible! I would never go back there. It was dirty and everyone was so mean to us. The restaurants even over charged us because we were American. I know everyone says that the French are mean to Americans, but when we were in France they were far nicer than the people in Italy. Hopefully your next trip is better!!!
