I'm not going to lie, this is a post that I didn't think I would be writing, especially since we have one healthy child. Part of me debated to write it conidering the struggles others have been through, i'm not sure mine are so bad, but here we go.
We've come to the point in TTC #2 that I will be going in for an HSG on Wednesday. Has anyone had one, if so, what can/should I expect. I had CD 3 bloodwork done last week. I assume I will get the results to that this week. We are kind of at a loss as to why we've struggled so badly TTC since we had absolutely no problems with Jackson. To say the least it has been a very frustrating, sad, and emotional past several months. If anyone has any insight, please let me know. Thanks!
Re: What to expect?
Sometimes things just happen in a matter of no time at all. Crazy huh? There is a secondary infertility board full of people like you. I'm sorry you're having to deal with this but there are lots of great options too.
I've had a couple of HSG's. It can be uncomfortable if you do have blocked tubes. My suggestion is 800mg of advil before the procedure. That will help a lot. While mine was uncomfortable, many people say that it was a breeze for them and almost everyone walks away being able to go back to work, etc. right after.
My advice is to make sure when they do your progesterone check to see if you ovulated that it's done 7 days past your ovulation instead of the usual cycle day 21 because not everyone ovulates on day 14 like a test on day 21 assumes.
I'd probably also get a sperm analysis if that's not been ordered too. It may not be you. I'd hate to deal with clomid for a cycle or two just to find out it wasn't me, ya know? lol Also with regard to clomid/femara, it's good to push for ultrasounds to make sure you're not overstimulating. I doubt septuplets or cysts are in your future plans. lol
I hope that the remedy is easy and fast. We're here to support you either way! HUGS!
My HSG I had cramping during, and a bit after, but it wasn't any worse than a period cramp. I took some ibuprofen before. I could have gone back to work, but scheduled it for the end of the day.
Ditto everything else Mrs.Reem said.
I don't have any advice, but isn't it crazy how things work sometimes? My friend tried for her first for 4 years and got pregnant on the first try with her second. I guess you just never know....
Good luck to you...lots of thoughts and prayers coming your way!
Thanks ladies! We'll see how it goes.
We do have a SA scheduled for DH. Right now we are debating to do it now or wait until next month to get all of my results back first. I think we are leaning towards just getting it all done at once, ya know? Months are starting to feel like years at this point.
As many tests as we've talked about and I've read about, our docotor isn't recommending the day 21 progesterone check right now. I was kind of surprised becasue that seemed like a starting point for a lot of people. I did ask about it and she said if I was miscarrying she would definitely test that right now, but since we just can't get pregnant she didn't think that was needed. I'm not sure how I feel about that, but I guess we'll see how the others come back.
Thanks again, I appreciate all the thoughts and prayers.
