How was your weekend?

Ours was pretty good.  We spent most of the afternoon on Saturday with my grandfather, doing what we could to get him to eat and just spending some time with him.  Then we played a couple of hours of volleyball with friends later in the day and had dinner with another couple.

Yesterday we went to the Sox vs. As game.  It was DH's first time at Fenway and it was a great game (Sox won).

I spent the rest of the night preparing for traffic court today to fight my at-fault finding in the 4-car pileup I was in a couple of months ago.  The good: the magistrate found me not responsible!  The bad: my insurance agent says this finding has no bearing on whether the insurance company finds me at fault.  WTH?

I'd rather be rock climbing or playing volleyball

Re: How was your weekend?

  • If the court doesn't find you at fault how can the insurance company? That makes no sense. Why are insurance companies such idiots sometimes?

Our weekend was spent doing mostly house stuff. We're finishing our basement so we (DH) got the stone onto the fireplace this weekend. The walls will be primed and the ceiling will be textured today and tomorrow and we're hoping to paint this week and do trim this weekend. We are also working on redoing old furniture (from when DH was in college, but they bought the set used) because we don't like the color nor the hideous old hardware. So we stripped and sanded one of the two pieces (tall dresser) this weekend. My back and legs hurt so much for all the work, leaning over, and crouching down.

    Here's a picture:

  • That fireplace looks awesome!  Are you guys doing most of the work yourselves?  How do people get so handy?!  I've said it before and I'll say it again: home improvement projects intimidate me!

  • Yeah, the insurance thing makes no sense. I call shenanigans.  But I hope your grandfather is doing well!

I feel like we ran around like crazy people. I flew back from DC on Friday afternoon, so we stayed in and had fajitas & margaritas for dinner. Saturday, we went to Downtown Crossing - my husband wanted to look for a job hunting suit, and I need new shoes. And we both found something, so huzzah! We grabbed dinner/beers at Stoddard's afterward.  Yesterday, we went to the Sox game, which was fun. It was perfect weather for it. We made the mistake of taking the 1 bus there from Cambridge, though, and it sucked. So we walked back from Fenway to Central Square, stopped at the Asgard for dinner, and then took a cab home from there.  Oh, and we watched The Switch (the Jennifer Aniston-Jason Bateman movie), which was an ok way to pass the time.

And now it's freaking Monday again. Sigh.

  • ead1975, if we'd known you were at the game too we could have given you a ride!  Our friend told us about a $7 lot nearby, which made it worthwhile to drive vs. taking the T, which was our original plan.

How long is the walk from Fenway to Central Square?  Isn't it really far?

$7 lot!! Wow what a find!  We paid $43 last time. Sad

  • ugh.. our weekend was not fun. friday DH went to the acbf at the world trade center and when he came home, he was sort of complaining that his feet hurt.  come saturday morning, he woke up and literally collapsed when he tried to put weight on his right foot.  so, we ended up going to the er at a small hospital down the street.  turns out, it wasn't broken, so they gave him a splint and crutches and sent us on our way.

well, the pain exponentially magnified over the day (to the point where he was in excruciating pain just sitting on the couch), so he didn't sleep at all saturday night and we ended up going to the mgh medical walk-in clinic all day yesterday.  they're thinking it has something to do with a ligament, but he's going to need an mri later this week.  we're just hoping it's not an actual tear, because that would most likely mean surgery.

ugh. and of course i'm a real estate agent, so i lost out on a prime weekend (i do rentals and sales and this getting into our prime rental time).  :(

    ...hello out there!

  • Ugh, hpinault, that sounds like a rough weekend.  I hope your DH's injury turns out not to be serious; how odd that he was fine all of Friday and then had all this crop up a day later.

Hopefully the rest of your high season will be good enough to make up for this one weekend!

Thanks. DH did a lot of work himself. We had to hire out electrical (he could have done the work but regulations in our town said he couldn't), plumbing for the gas fireplace, and we ended up having people come in and do the drywall. We put up about 4 pieces and realized it we were in a little over our head. He did all the framing (including the ceiling and moving some HVAC and adding some as well), moved a door to a new location and added in a new door, we did the insulation and everything that goes with that, and now the fireplace. He's going to grout the fireplace tonight and we'll paint the walls this week. Then we'll do the trim and he'll need to build the mantle and bookcases/cabinets were putting on their side of the fireplace. Then we'll get the flooring people in. It has been a long project since it was just him for a lot of it. The framing took a lot longer than he expected.

  • MrsC your fireplace looks great! And hipnault, I hope your H is ok and doesn't end up needing any surgery!

My weekend was pretty good. Saturday I slept in a little bit and then babysat my niece (M) for a couple of hours so my sister could get some stuff done for M's birthday party. And then yesterday was the party. I made cupcakes and a mini cake in the morning and then we celebrated M turning 2! After the party, H and I went to the driving range and hit some golf balls. I haven't been in years, but turns out I'm not that bad. H was impressed.

  • Love the fireplace! And cupcakes. Mmmmm.

Rock, hopefully this will be painless.

We are dealing with our stupidazzed tenants. OMG they are so stupid. It seriously hurts my brain to think about their stupidity.

Our weekend was good, we spent yesterday (100 degrees!) at the beach with some friends and their babies. We were all SO exhausted when we got home, but took the dog to the neighbor's party and let her run around with their dogs, get very muddy, and came home. I haven't been sleeping well so I took a tylenol PM to help me last night and go figure, DS woke up not once, not twice, not 3 times, but FIVE times last night.

I was so tired this morning that I took a cold shower when I woke up, forgot to put a bra on under my shirt at first, and made a pot of coffee without putting the coffee in the filter so I wound up with a pot of hot water.

  • The fireplace looks great!

Friday night DH and I had dinner with another couple and then we hit Toby Keith's new I Love This Bar for a drink. The place is enormous but it was super loud cause they had a band playing.

Saturday morning we spent cleaning the new apartment. Then that afternoon a friend and I went into Boston to have our boudoir pic consultation. We both bought the Living Social deal and we're going to get pics done later this month!! Eek!!

Yesterday said friend and I went down to Mystic and met up with 3 other Nesties from our anniversary board for lunch. So much fun hanging out. It was our first time meeting 2 of the girls.
