7 Deadly Sins -- Gluttony
Starting something new here. 7 deadly sins -- 7 different topics. I give you a sin, you confess how it relates to you and your life. Fun! Plus, the Disney Princesses make it pretty ;D

GLUTTONY is an inordinate desire to consume more than that which one requires.

Re: 7 Deadly Sins -- Gluttony
Hmm... what makes me a glutton?
Pizza. I think I could eat a whole pizza if it was laid out in front of me, and no one would judge.
Pizza and ice cream. I could eat those two non-stop. And oh, does it show.
What else do I consume more than I require? Money. Definitely money.

But I lurve your arse!

You might be the only one!
I'm already on my second cookie of the day, I'm a total glutton. It's why I exercise as much as I do, so I can be a healthy glutton
False! I lurve it too!! But not as much as I love your new siggy pic. ::swoon::
OK, so back to MB's original post....
I'm almost always someone who always "cleans her plate". This has often lead to eating past my fullness point.
Biggest food vices? Anything mexican, pad thai, PB, avocados/guac, ice cream, ranch dressing, and any sort of overly processed cheese puff/ball/curl. It's hard for me to control myself when the above mentioned (and prob a few other things I can't think of right now...) are around.
I'm also a big "nibbler" when I cook.... you've got to do quality control, right? This often leads to me being full before I even eat... but I usually eat a whole meal anyway.
Food is my favorite... it's a hobby and a friend. It's family. It's my favorite thing to talk about. LOL.
When I was little, my grandparents on my mom's side wouldn't let any of us up from the table until our plates were cleaned. I think it was a combination of teaching us to only take what we can eat & b/c of how during the Great Depression, my grandfather was abandoned by his parents so he never knew when/where the next meal would come from. This has stuck with me so I almost always clean my plate.
Also, since I'm pregnant, I'm definitely guilty of gluttony in general.

oi, this one is my worst offense!
I can eat an entire bag of chips and tub of french onion dip if I let myself, same with tortilla chips and salsa/guac.
or homemade mac and cheese
or goldfish
or sour cream and cheddar chips
or the new kettle cooked jalapeno chips
or pretty much any kind of pasta
or homemade ice cream

*sigh*
and I wonder why I can't lose these 10 lbs...
I confess -- I can eat a whole bag of Pizza Goldfish in one sitting. And I love it.

I'm a purist, I like the regular ones. I almost ate a whole bag when we were camping last weekend. I had to start sharing with the kids so I didn't feel so bad when the bag was empty.
This was the culprit to like 5 pounds.
I'm pretty bad at stopping myself when it comes to things I enjoy eating. My current foods: cookies, ice cream, and chips (mainly pringles, salt & vinegar). When it was Easter, I discovered Dove's milk chocolate eggs and I couldn't stop eating them.
Right now, there's a Costco sized Welch's fruit snacks next to me at work that my co-worker bought because I told her that I loved them. I just can't not eat one! If this was at home, it probably wouldn't last very long, but since it's at work and for sharing, I can limit myself.
What's bad is that I'll be hungry and eat those snacks instead but since they usually don't fill me up, I still eat a meal after. I'm actually pretty good when it comes to meals, I usually only get a good portion and I make sure not to eat too much. But I just can't do that with snacks/desserts.
I'm also a food glutton. And a drink glutton.
I particularly consume in mass quantities:
-sparkling white wine
-Absolut Berri Acai vodka
-Snickers ice cream bars
-fresh berries (the only thing on this list that is not terrible for me)
I also spend more money than I need to, particularly when I am bored, which makes it especially dangerous.
Stand up for something you believe in.
ugh, we have to include drinking too? Ok, add to the list:
- pretty much any kind of pinot grigio
- lately, any white sangria
- mojitos
- any dark, dry red wine
- vodka lemonades
and non-alcoholically, my morning chais. Can't live without. *sigh* I really am a glutton...
This is what the Berri Acai goes into. Preferably pomegranate lemonade. mmmmmm.
Oh, and if we're including non-alcoholic drinks please include Sweet Tea on my list. You should just hook me up to a tap of that stuff every summer.
Stand up for something you believe in.
Barq's Root Beer would be mine...

Ugh I'm a total glutton.
It kills me that a serving size of ice cream is 1/2 a cup.
Mountain Dew hands down.
I am not a big junk food person, but I can easily down a 12 pack in a few hours.
Otherwise I could eat: Mushrooms, bacon, and cucumbers all day every single day
Nope, and I can't wait til I'm home later to see them!! You look supah skinny in that pic, PS.
I have zero control when it comes to pasta. I eat beyond the point of full just because I love it so much!
Oh, and chocolate chip cookies fresh out of the oven. I'm pretty sure I could easily eat 2 dozen.

While I don't blame my husband, per se, I definitely feel this one relates to my life more now than before we met.
We plan vacations based around food/wine. New Orleans, wine country, Memphis etc were all built around meals. It's kind of weird.
Because he's 6'5'', he can obviously put away a lot more food than I can or should. However, this doesn't stop me from keeping up with him. Which is not good for my weight, which is at an all time high at the moment. Not good.
I am a snacker. I eat lots of fruits and veggies during the day and then turn to things like cheese puffs at night. Also not good.
I've had 2 slices of cake (corner pieces both times) so far today in addition to the "diet" food that I packed.
Cake makes me a glutton every time.
Don't even get me started on gluttony. I'm an emotional eater and for some reason I ALWAYS find something to be emotional about....so I eat a.lot.
Cereal is the biggest one for me. Granted it's cereal like organic granola, kix, raisin bran, etc, but I could go through a whole box, bowl right after bowl if I didn't physically stop myself.
And free food. People bring in stuff at work all the time and being raised on the whole "polite bite is always right" thing I don't turn down food when people offer it to me. Also a big plate cleaner. And other people's plate cleaner....like if my sister/husband doesn't eat something, I WILL.
Another good one is sweets: candy bars, cookies (ESPECIALLY double stuff oreos), cakes, jellos and any type of picnic desert you could imagine.
I try very hard to stick to portion control, but like DD, a 1/2 cup of ice cream just never seems to do it for me....then I snack on something else 30 minutes later.
Eeep, thank you! You made my day.

oh yes, free food. I think I'm still in my college who-knows-when-I'll-get-non-dining-hall-food-again way of thinking. And if there's leftover food at a party or something, I'll take it home just so it doesn't get thrown away. I hate wasting food!
I didn't have a meal plan in college (I commuted), but with the way I went right from college to work, I NEVER had any food besides stuff from the student union, so I get where you're coming from. And that food is always processed or deep fried and never good for you. I also take home food. Plus my parents and ILs ALWAYS send us home with 900 pounds of food after parties/holidays/etc. Even if I say at the beginning (like at Thanksgiving--I made me and Danny our own turkey breast) that we have food and don't need any, we still go home loaded.
Before pregnancy- candy. I eat way too much of it and I usually try to hide it which is worse. Since gestational diabetes- I dont have the urges anymore but I can say its hard to avoid candy some days..
