Festival report

Who went?  What cool things did you see/do/eat?

Re: Festival report

  • I spent about 20 minutes there on my lunch hour on Friday.  I went through the art tents and ate a falafel.

That's about all I have to report.  Sorry, I'm lame.

  • We were there on Sunday afternoon.  It started off rocky, but after I took the stroller from Jim, and we decided to never depend on the kids eating a meal at Festival again, we had a great time.  He ate a few meats on a stick.  I had some noodles and a spring roll, as well as the nambupani (sp?).  Willa participated in the glue-in area.  The kids both left with kitty painted faces.  We stopped to listen to a surf band, and then watched Bethel's choir close the place down.

I think Sunday afternoons are pretty tame.  The most unusual thing we saw was a girl wearing huge furry boots.  Tame.

  • We went on Sunday as well.  I just wanted to go and grab something to eat, maybe listen to music.  We got there around 1:00, I think?  We headed straight for the food section.  I dunno, the food just seemed okay.  Nothing too special.  I got the same thing you did, grsweetpea, noodles and a spring roll.  What did you think?  I thought it was pretty blah.  Brett got a chicken skewer that was pretty tasty.  I wish I had tried a pulled pork sandwich, but I guess there is next year.  We were there for about an hour and half from the car and back. It was a gorgeous day for a stroll through the city.

Big, fury boots.  Bestill my heart.  And I'm dead serious.  I love those things.  I always see the bebes wearing them at hippie shows now-a-days.

  • We went on Sunday morning, right at 10 am and stayed until about 12:45. TH did very well until the end and then TH and Allison hit a brick wall and it was time TO GO!!

The kids got their faces painted, swung on the tire swing, and watched some dancers while eating a snack. Then Allison did the glue in. I was so proud of her going in by herself. There was a 6 or 7 year old behind us, so her mom hooked Vivian and Allison up and they were buddies. I guess last year, her daughter bailed at the entrance, so mom thought if Vivian was asked to "help" a younger kid, she would stay. It worked out great. I got "yelled" at for sneaking in the glue in area to try to retrieve Allison. There wasn't enough volunteers and nobody was giving her directions on what to do. I was trying to point her to the exit area, however due to how it was set up, an additional tent that was set up blocked her vision of me and she lost track of where I was at. Because of that tent, I couldn't see her either, so I tried to take five step in the area to wave her over and I got yell at my an over ambitious volunteer. Let's say I wasn't too happy.

Then she and Mia did the paint in. They were SO FREAKIN CUTE, standing at the easel painting. They did so well in there. My heart swelled with pride at how cute they were. Big Smile

We only had an elephant year. I have learned in the past trying to figure out what to eat, where is the booth at, do we want to wait in line, do we want to pay $5 for a slice of meat on a stick, is where things start to go downhill.  So I didn't even attempt it this year. Plus by the end, I was so hot that I wasn't hungry anymore.

  • We went to festival on Saturday early evening. Had a glass of nimbupani and the cevapi and that's it.  We were both a little full as we made sure to eat some healthy snacks before heading down.

Henry is too small for the arts activities so we just walked around. We saw a man in a dress and another man yelling through a bullhorn at all the sinners. That last part was pretty amusing. And I was able to stop in to Minty Keen, which is an awesome little shop.
