Healthy Weight - Eye Opener

I googled a healthy weight chart for women my age (28) to see where I stood on the chart. I am 5'3" and weight 137 pounds. My clothes are small/mediums and 4-6's...according to the chart...I'm LARGE!! LARGE!!!!

How is this possible? How am I still in 4's, 6's, Smalls and Mediums and am large according to my height/weight and age??

love, jenifriend

Re: Healthy Weight - Eye Opener

  • I don't get those charts, and personally (as I said in post below) prefer to look in the mirror/see how my clothes fit rather than note what's on the scale.

Everyone knows that muscle weighs more than fat, so that for me is the #1 reason why I don't get these charts. I look and feel better at a toned 135 than I do at a flabby 130 ya know?

  • Sometimes those charts can be good, because I think for people that are more extremely overweight, it can somewhat show what they should strive for. With that said, it has me at obese on some of those! Ridiculous! I am a size 12, which is bigger - I know, but I don't find anyone that can bust out 3 miles on a treadmill or do an hour of Tae Bo like it is their job obese.

ditto!  LOL Same here to a T!  I've always considered myself "athletic" and try not to let those "charts" and "guidelines" get to me.  Good for you girl and I hear ya all the way!

  • I despise those charts with a passion!  I am probably listed as obese too.  Marilyn Monroe would probably be considered overweight too!  But whatevs.
