Update on boss who texts me while I am not at work

I work at a community center. I have written on the board about my boss texting me and others while we are not at work.

She is a total control freak. She cannot stand when it's busy (which it is now that camp has started).

TWO customers are writing our superintendent about her being a B*tch to two of my co-workers in front of them!

I need a new job.

Re: Update on boss who texts me while I am not at work

  • At least you have two people outside the place you work who are stepping up to stay something. I have been dealing with similar work place issues.

  • Glad to hear you know it's time to get a new job. We've been saying this for awhile. Hope something comes up soon!
  • You definitely should think seriously about a new job!  I used to have a boss calling/texting me at 11 at night and then before 7 in the morning.  It was awful!  I feel your pain.  I have since moved on from that job and am enjoying a supervisor that respects my personal time!  I wish the same for you!Smile
    Be A Blessing! :-)
  • I am going to get through the summer, but am looking! It is really outta control. That and I have a coworker who lies about EVERYTHING.
  • do you have to give her your cell phone number?  if not, i would probably change it and not report the new number.  my work doesn't have my cell phone number, but then again, they don't call or text me at all, much less after hours.

  • If she wants you to be available for communication outside of work hours, the company should pay for your texting plan.  I'd submit an expense report for the cost of the texting!  LOL.  My job requires me to answer emails at all times but the company pays for our data plan.  Same principle.

Can you block her number from texting you?  Then if she asks you could just say that you turned off texting because you didn't want to pay for it.  But it really shouldn't come to that... I hope you are able to find another job where they respect your time and boundaries.

  • That stinks!  My boss called me during work hours, but I was on VACATION used to study for a final exam.  (They supported me getting my masters, and I was using a vacation day...let them know well in advance...)

They had me call into a conference call then forgot I was on the phone...I was pissed!  I finally had to say, "do you still need me?"...grrrr

  • Any luck on the job hunt?? You really need to get out of that place- it is toxic :(  GL to you!!

Just curious- why are you going to put up with this all summer?  It sounds like you need to leave ASAP- and definitely stop answering your boss' calls when you're not at work. It's your personal phone, they can't make you answer it.
