Question on choosing best interview time?

This is probably a silly question but I figured there may be some sort of strategy based on a study that I've never heard about or something!

I've been invited to give an oral presentation interview for a job I applied to.  I used to have the same exact job but moved away, but am now moving back and re-applied because there was a vacancy.

I have friends that still work there so I know there were about 300 applicants for 3 vacancies. For the interview day, I know 2 of the people in the room.

There is a 3 day window of interviews, from 8am to 4pm, a Weds, Thurs and Friday.

Is there some sort of strategy as to how I should schedule my interview?  Is it best to be one of the last few so you are fresh in their minds (though they already know me), or is it better to go earlier because by the end they will have already basically made up their mind?

Or does it really not matter at all?

 Any thoughts? Thanks.

Re: Question on choosing best interview time?

  • I have never heard of it mattering much. IMO if you have a strong presentation and interview, it won't matter if you were first, last, or in the middle.

  • I think you are missing an important part here - what time of the day would be best for you. What time will you perform your best? If I were given the option, I would go with that.

  • No suggestions - but good luck!

  • In general I think that if you are the strongest candidate, you will stick out in their minds. That said, I do think it's a little better to be one of the last ones - so long as you are excellent - because you will be fresher in their minds.
