How was your wknd?!

Mine was uber busy!

I left work at lunch and stopped at one of my fav Nordstrom Rack's in the burbs.  Found a cute dress and low black open toe wedge shoes (Allie and Kearstin-like you've been helping me look for) and I had gc's from my bday to use (and still have money left on them).  The outlet mall was a bust; I found absolutely nothing and also found out that my fav. concealer (which had been discontinued by Clinique but was still carried at a cosmetic outlet) is no longer carried there either. Double disappointment.

I did errands on Saturday; including getting my BM dress for wedding #1 (which is WAY too big; I can't believe they had me order the size I did) and saw my bf in her wedding dress (I've done before; but she lost about 10-15lbs).  She seriously looks stunning! Anyways, long boring day Saturday that I won't share the dets.

Sunday was the bridal shower.  It went over really well and bf was extremely happy.  Bride, her mom, gram and sis were all really appreciative for the work put into it, especially by my mom and I.  At the end bride's mom (who I have always felt really close to; she was a reader at our ceremony) pulled me aside and told me how I really was the best friend that bf could ever have, etc.  Her eyes started tearing up and then I started crying, lol.  We're both sentimental and always feed off each other.

Afterwards I drove back to Chicago in 2 hr 29 min, which means there was no traffic! (typically it's a 3 hr+ drive b/c of traffic).  DH had chicken on the grill ready for us to eat once I got back.

It was a really fun weekend; but I'm absolutely exhausted!! And of course, we have plans for weeknight events this week (which is rare for us).  I'm totally looking forward to Saturday and vegging

Re: How was your wknd?!

  • Glad the shower went well! I bet you're relieved that it's over.

Saturday, we went into Boston to get my husband a suit - he had an interview this morning (right now, actually!), and his suit is pretty beat up.  Then we grabbed dinner at our favorite ale house over in downtown crossing.(If anyone's in the area, it's Stoddard's - they have a ton of beers on tap, and their burgers and fondue are delicious.)

Yesterday, we went to the Sox game in the afternoon, and had our fill of beers and Fenway Franks.  It was so nice out, (low 70s, with a breeze), we decided to walk back to Cambridge instead of taking the T/bus. We stopped in Central Square for dinner & to break up the walk, (that was just about the 2 mile point, and it's another almost-mile to Harvard for the bus home), and ended up cabbing it home from there. We watched The Switch last night (with Jason Bateman & Jennifer Aniston) - it was predictable, but a decent way to pass the evening.

  • Happy you found the wedges finally!

My weekend was awesome.  Friday after work I packed and picked up my crew and we were off to West Virginia.  I got super hungry about 1.5 hours into the 5 hour trip (and my bro and Mike were starving too!) so we stopped and ate SO much bad, bad food but it was so good!  My momma drove the rest of the way so we could eat (and she may be a little bit of a control freak in the car lol) so that was nice.  There was an awful, bad, horrible accident about an hour out from our destination that put us behind about an hour so that sucked.

Saturday we all went to my cousin and grilled and went swimming.  So much fun.

Saturday was the wedding and it was gorgeous.  My cousin looked absolutely beautiful and she and her groom looked so happy.  I danced my asssss off!  The groom's best man took over the DJ booth and was playing old school hip hop most of the night so I was getting my groove on LOL

Sunday was more eating and hanging with the family at what was my great-grandmother's house, which is now my great aunt's house.  She's carrying on the tradition of Sunday dinners, etc that her mother did.  It was so amazing to be there with everyone for such a happy occasion.

Overall, it was an awesome weekend!

Friday night it took me an hour and a half to get home from work because of 2 accidents; it usually only takes me 35-40 minutes.  Jason had a couple of friends over Friday night, and I got p*ssed at the one guy I can't stand (and who I think is a bad influence on Jason...ew that makes me sound like his Mom lol) so I ended up kicking him out which felt great.  Plus apparently angry Xan makes for some really good angry sex lol so that was a plus.

Saturday was my Dad's birthday so we met him downtown and went to an arts festival and walked around downtown for a few hours.  Afterwards we took him to dinner and gave him gifts, then we just hung out around the apartment for a while.  Around 9:30 we met up with two of Jason's other friends (these were two of his GM's, so I know/like these guys a lot more than the ones who were over Friday night) at Champions bar and had drinks and listened to the band.  I had way too many drinks, like slurring too many drinks which is really rare for me.  Needless to say I spent most of Sunday hung over and sleeping.

Eventually around 5pm on Sunday I got out of my pajamas, showered, and went to the grocery store to get stuff for lunches this week.  Then came home, made dinner, and we watched The Fighter which we both really liked.  I was in bed by 10:30pm.

Pretty sure after this weekend I'm giving up drinking except for special occasions.

Damn it...I typed out my reply and then TN ate it.

Chris is away teaching a course, so I had a quiet weekend at home with the fur babies.  I got some cleaning done and did lots of yard work.  And, of course, watched the hockey game...GO CANUCKS!

    GO CANUCKS!

    this.

Let's see.  On Saturday, I went to the lab to catch up on some work.  I'm cleaning a dress from about 1910 right now, and the dress is very musty.  That night, DH and I were craving pizza, so we made some, (thereby using up some veggy leftovers in the fridge).  It was yum.

On Sunday we took advantage of the hot sunny weather and did the laundry.  Every time I take it in, I want to throw the big pile on my bed and roll around in it.  I absolutely love the smell of wash hung outside.  I sortof got my wish when I made the bed with the fresh sheets.

We also tried out the mini bbq yesterday and made grilled salmon with lemon and herbs.  It was awesome!

At night, my dear cousin (in BC) called me, and we chatted and laughed for a few hours.  I love her dearly, and miss her so terribly.  She moved out there about 10 years ago.  Talking to her makes me feel both loved and more lonely than I did before.  I really wish I had girlfriends.  I'm very tempted to convince DH to move out to BC just to be close to her.

Today (which is still sort of my weekend), I went to the museum and washed some glass plate negatives from the late 1800s.  It was fun to look at the old photos, but also distracting.  I had 3 hours to clean 35 of them, and only managed to clean 28.  Oh well.  The very last photo had a woman dressed in an obviously fake kimono holding up a scroll with fake kanji on it.  Hilarious.

And now I'm home, and should be working on chemistry.  Instead I'm knotting.  :P

  • Ugh, my weekend was horrible! I was sick and in the hospital. I was only there for like 12 hours, but that's 12 hours too long! So I've just been sick all weekend and still sick today. Not fun! Hopefully I'm on the up side of things now.

    BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Heh.

Yesterday there were 2 dudes at the Red Sox game draped in Canucks gear.  They went over to the kids sitting next to us out on the concourse before the game and tried to get them to cheer. The little kid (he was probably 4 or so) said, "NO! you're a stupidhead!" It was hilarious.  They were lucky they were at a Sunday afternoon game, because on a Friday/Saturday night, they would have been covered in beer by the first inning.

  • We worked on our driveway for maybe 3 hours Friday, 6 hours Saturday and 4 hours Sunday, then we spent about 3 more hours trying to get a clothesline post out of our (future) patio area, my dad finally had to come over and we used his truck to pull it out.

Here is the before of the driveway:

  • Friday I ran a bazillion errands after work. Pretty boring. DH was gone at a friends bachelor party.

Saturday I went for a 5 mile run with my dad, then met my brother and grandma for lunch and bummed around. Then I went to dinner with my parents and got amazing ice cream for dessert. DH was gone until Sunday mid day so I got super bored in the evening and started watching Glee. I only got through episode 3 of season 1, but I'm liking it so far.

Sunday I drove to Philly for NKOTBSB!!!! OMG ladies, it was AMAZING. I was in the 6th row on the floor. The concert was the best I've been to, seriously they all got hotter with age :) And Donnie from NKOTB came out into the audience and we were on the aisle and I touched him twice! It was so surreal, I've never been that close to a celebrity before :) Here's some photos!
