laundry question-can you please help me?

I know I am probably overthinking this and it is a dumb question, but I have a VS lace trim bikini panty that is white with black trim that I just bought.  Can I wash it in warm with my whites (mainly socks) without making them dingy?

Re: laundry question-can you please help me?

  • I would wash it seperate on delicate since its VS and has lace.  Or I would soak it seperate and wash by hand.  I wouldn't mix it incase other clothes would ruin it.  I don't like to chance it especially with nice bathing suits
  • Handwash only with cold water and a mild cleaner, like a hand soap or a shampoo. Detergents are too harsh on the elastics, and break them down a lot faster. Also, rinse with cold water immediately after being in chlorinated water.

I work for a swimsuit store, and honestly, your suit will last a lot longer with correct care. Not many people know the correct way to care for suits! HTH!

  • You're talking about a pair of underwear, right? Not a bathing suit? I'd throw it in with whatever -- for the first wash or two make sure there's nothing in there that the black will bleed on and ruin. After that, that small amount of black probably won't make a difference. On a larger piece of fabric (like a shirt), I put black and white striped stuff in with my brights load (and wash on cold).

  • yes, it's underwear.  Thanks!
  • The black will not bleed. Because the majority of the item is white, the black will be designed to be colorfast, so it will not make the rest of the garment dingy OR other items with it, like white socks. If it DOES bleed you are more than justified in taking it back to the store or calling the manufacturer.
