If you could pick the time you star work........

What time would you pick?

I currently start at 7;00 am and I like it.  I get out at 3:15 and that leaves me a good part of the afternoon to do things.

Re: If you could pick the time you star work........

  • I've been coming in by 7:45/ 8 and I like it because I get out of here at 4:15.  I really like having that time in the afternoon.  If I got home any later, I'd feel like I have NO time for DS or to get stuff done in general.

  • 7/7:30ish. Any later than that and traffic is so bad that it would take me three times as long to get to work!
  • I'm not a morning person at all so it would be tough to be in by 7 but I would definitely do that if I could get out by 3:30 4.  My current schedule is 8:30 to 5:30 and I hate it (traffic makes the commute 45 mins to an hour).  I would even give up my lunch break if I could get out an hour earlier.
  • I'd come in at 7 if it ment getting off early. I don't mind 8 but hate working until 5.
  • I get into work at 8 and work 9 hour shifts so I'm out at 5pm (1 hour lunch).  I would love to work 4 10-hour shifts and have one day off in the middle of the week.  I have tried moving my work schedule up an hour and get in at 7am but the boss wasn't a fan of that.

We have the same schedule =) and I like it for the same reason.

Would you two mind telling what kind of job you have that allows you to have that schedule? I've been thinking about searching for jobs with more flexible hours but now sure where to start.

We have the same schedule =) and I like it for the same reason.

  • I'm not a morning person. I think I'd like a 10 - 7 schedule, until I have kids.

  • I generally work 11-4 with one late night/week (11am-10:30pm).
  • I really wish I could start at 6:30 or 7, and get out by 3:30 or 4. Currently, I work 8-5 with an hour lunch at 12. I would also skip lunch and just eat on my breaks if I could. I get two 15-minute breaks so that would be plenty of time.
  • I currently work 8:30 to 5 p.m., and I hate it.

My last position was 7:45 to 3:45, and I loved it.

  • I work 7:30-5 mon-thurs (1/2 hour lunch) and 9-1 on Friday.  We can work any hours we want, so some people start at 6:30 and some people start at 10.  Not everyone takes a 1/2 day friday, but I like it that way.

  • 6 to 2:30 is what i did at my last job, it was great because i missed the traffic and I could get home with plenty of time to do stuff during the day. loved it that way!
  • I hate mornings, so I'd love to start at 10.

  • I would prefer start at 6 instead of 7.

I currently work 11pm-7am.  Strangely I find this better than working 7am-3pm.  I am NOT a morning person and I hate waking up by alarm clocks.  I worked 7am-3pm for about 3 months and I was exhausted every day when I got home from work and usually fell asleep for 2+ hours before dinner.
