PW: Vegas anyone? (and thanks)

So, since it looks like I will be able to drink this summer, I suggested to Ed that maybe we take a long weekend trip this summer to Vegas.  I even mentioned it to my mom to see if she and my dad want to go too (we all travel well together, and then Ed and my dad can gamble while my mom and I lie by the pool and drink...Ed isn't a real pool guy...).  Mom said she would talk to my dad.

So, I am looking for suggestions of places to stay.  We want to be fairly cheap (and looking online I found some deals--flight and hotel--for about $600 a person for 4 nights...).  Any thoughts?

And also...thanks so much for all the vibes and thoughts.  It means a lot.  Even my mom said today on the phone that she was so glad that I had all you ladies on here for support!

  • I don't have any suggestions on where to stay, but I like the plan of Vegas, and also we're here whenever you need us.

  • What hotels are with the deals you've found online? I can give you my 2 cents on some of the hotels, I've stayed at a handful of them up and down the strip.

Do you plan on doing any shows?

You can always get great discounts for most of the Mandalay Bay restaurants on restaurants.com.

  • You can for sure do Vegas for that price.  We booked H's last trip to Vegas through bookit.com and have used them other times in the past.  They usually have pretty good deals: http://bookit.com/us/nevada/las-vegas/

Also, there's a good deal for the Palms on LivingSocial Escapes right now.  You'd have to book your flight separately, but it's really a great deal: http://escapes.livingsocial.com/

  • Check out smartervegas.com for coupon codes and deals.  Also, if you find a hotel that you want to stay at, sign up for their mailings and you can get some really good deals.  You should definitely be able to plan a vacation at that price.

I hope you have a great time and get a chance to relax.

Nestie GTG? I LOVE Vegas. Hmmm Girls weekend getaway.

I have been twice, we stayed off the strip so I have no advice (it was a timeshare and it is no longer located there).

  • On the strip, I can rec The Monte Carlo, Mandalay Bay, Paris, MGM Grand, and Luxor. I've stayed at Excalibur and it's okay. Its very family friendly so there's tons of families and kids running around everywhere which is weird when you're drunk and/or hungover at the buffet or pool. I've also stayed at Flamingo, it's a really old hotel with old Vegas feel. It's not the nicest hotel but they have a great pool. We usually stay at The Hilton. It's off the strip which works better for us and there's a tram to the strip if you want to go but don't want to take your car.
