erbur, help me (or other beery goddesses)
Is there anything to the PBW "firkin" nomer other than that it is basically a 1/4 keg?
I'm googling but confused - is it a gravity tap?

Yeah that's right my name's Yauch!
Re: erbur, help me (or other beery goddesses)
I defer to the Grey Lodge, whose website has an FAQ about their Friday the Firkenteenth events. They provide this info: A firkin is 40.8 liters (10.8 US gallons), if that helps.
A-HA
very excellent of you, thanks
So.
If you were me, would you go for a Yard's firkin with $1 oysters at Oyster House or Yard's featured casks at Dandelion (no listed food specials)?
Yeah that's right my name's Yauch!
They don't say on the PBW website.
sigh

Here ya go:

It looks like it's just Yards IPA in the firkin.

And Dandelion has all of the below:
Yards Brawler (cask) 1 Bars
From: Philadelphia, PA Style: Amber
English mild ale. Malt-forward, ruby colored ale, crafted in the style of English session ales.
Yards ESA (cask) 3 Bars
From: Philadelphia, PA Style: Amber
Robust and hearty amber ale with a malt body and aromatic hop finish.
Yards Thomas Jefferson Tavern Ale (cask) 1 Bars
From: Philadelphia, PA Style: American Strong Ale
Thomas Jefferson Tavern Ale is a strong golden ale, based on Jefferson's original recipe, which included ingredients specified and grown on his Virginia estate.
I guess it depends, are you a huge IPA fan that you want to try it in the firkin? Or do you want a selection? I'd personally go to Dandelion.
Damnit!
I missed this post.
We went to Oyster House. Yes the IPA in the firkin was good. The Delaware Bay $1 oysters were fine, but pretty bland/tasteless. The company was fine and I guess it was worth it because we met this guy Jessie from Yards who sat down next to us at the bar so we got to ask lots of questions.
But I LOVE Brawler and would have really liked to try it cask style.
oh well
