::Jules (or other DSLR ladies)::

What is the remote you had in Chicago for your DSLR? I'm looking to buy one within the next few days to take on my family reunion. Somehow I got nominated to take family pictures and I don't really want to be running back and forth after hitting the self-timer Smile

Is it easy to link the remote to the camera? I'm not very good at stuff like that....

  • I have this one (or one very similar).  Very easy and super convenient.

  • I have the one that Jaime linked to :)  It should be compatible with your camera (you can check at B&H or Adorama if yours is not listed there or in the reviews.

    All you have to do is turn your camera on and make sure you are within the distance limit of the infrared on the remote.  Take a few test shots first to make sure your camera and the remote are communicating before you do the group shot and you should be good to shoot.

  • It's awesome for group shots, that's for sure!  They're pretty cheap so it's worth having one!

  • Awesome, thanks ladies! I just bought it Smile

    Totally not remote related, but I've been trying to play with my 50mm f/1.8 more and I've realized something. I've been spoiled by auto-focus and suck at manual focus. Any suggestions from anyone? It doesn't help B is constantly on the move either...

    I am not great at manual focus either, especially with a moving subject! Start with a larger DOF and work to stop your aperture down. Also try focusing and recomposing, that may help at the beginning!
