Chit chat with coworkers poll
I'm trying to chit chat less at work with my coworkers, so I thought I'd ask your perspectives on this topic . . .[Poll]

Hahaha! Love it :-))
I voted occasionally.
On my first "real" job out of school, where I stayed for 14 years, it was more frequent. We really did become like a family, and to this day even though we haven't worked together for 5 years (our company merged and my department was eliminated, so we've all moved on), out of the 35 that were in my department, 23 of us are FB friends and we still interact often. One of them in fact, I became so close to that her daughter was my flower girl :-)
But on my last job and now on my current one, I find I don't chat too much about stuff in my life and at home. I have a couple of friends at work that I interact with on a regular basis and go out to lunch with, but I'm still guarded about how much personal stuff I share. Maybe it's because I've only been here a little over a year, but I find that I'm not as chatty during the work day now as I was in my 20's and 30's...Great post!!

Its definitely hard for me because we only have about 8 people in our company, and we have an open floor plan on my floor so it is just me and three other ladies with no cubes or anything, and our desks all in a row. We kind of can't avoid chit chat.
I don't particularly like most of them that much, so it isn't difficult for me to keep to myself. Some of them share EVERY detail of their life, and it gets old pretty quick. Again, this might be just because I don't care for them most of the time.

I voted "never", because that's true for my current job. I chit chat with co-workers, but not more than what we did this weekend, etc. I try to avoid lots of personal details, just because there are too many people working at a high school, and I've seen people get catty and gossipy about stupid things.
At my previous job, I worked with 3 other girls who were in my age group and a few secretaries that were like moms to me. I got very close to them because it was such a small office. They knew pretty much every detail of my life! But I knew them well, and we trusted each other as friends, not only co-workers.
