moving to BR

Hi everyone,

My fiancee (husband in less than 3 weeks) might be moving to BR this summer. He just got offered a job at LSU so the move would be by the end of summer. Does anyone have any recommendations on close neighborhoods near the university or any specific apartments for rent I should look into?

Thanks so much!

Congrats! DH used to teach at LSU and we lived at the Park on Bluebonnet, he had two roads he could take in case one was congested. He normally didn't have a problem. The complex also gave us a discount when he mentioned about working for LSU. Good luck.

  • Area 5 is the LSU area and definitely full of great neighborhoods.  You may be able to find a house to rent if that is your thing.  I know a lot of grad students live over on Corporate at Cedar Lodge (I think?).  Not too far but not your "typical" student housing.  Stay away from anywhere in Tigerland or on Brightside.  A lot of undergrads live there and it's just very typical college antics.

    Where are you moving from?

  • what dept is he working in? i work for LSU and have to be nosey! haha
  • Thanks ladies.

We are still unsure about him accepting the position but want to be prepared in case we decide to go for it. We would be moving from Canada.

  • Its official! He has accepted the job and we will be moving for Jan 1. That should give us lots of time to find a place and organize the move after the wedding. I cannot wait to meet some new people and see a new community. I will be honest, I am worried about the summer heat. We had snow and a frost warning here on the weekend (don't worry it is not normal to have this type of weather).
