Weekly Book Post!
I thought I'd start this this week!
I was on vacation the past two weeks- and as I mentioned last week, I read a ton! We would get up, go bike riding, maybe go somewhere in the morning, and then would read all afternoon, then go back out when it was cooler in the evening.
1. The Irresistable Henry House (I may have mentioned this last week): I liked the idea, but didn't really care for the ending of the book at all.
2. The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks: I loved this (and was horrified by parts of it, too). Henrietta died of cervical cancer when she was just 31 years old in 1951. She was poor, African American, and left behind 5 kids. When she was first diagnosed with cervical cancer, part of the tumor that was biopsied was given to a researcher who was trying to culture human cells. Miraculously, her cells grew like wildfire. Her cells helped develop the polio vaccine, have helped with cancer research & AIDS research and countless other discoveries. The book chronicles Henrietta's life, the lives of her children, and the development of cell culture/human experimentation/research.
3. Hunger Games/Catching Fire/Mockingjay: Very enjoyable reads! Although the subject matter was a little shocking (post-apocalyptic America, with 13 states/districts and a capitol, 2 kids from each state are chosen at random to fight to the death each year in the Hunger Games). The stories were good!
4. Heart of the Matter by Emily Giffin: listened to this on CD... it was good, but I really didn't like two of the characters 
5. Jame's Patterson's Women's Murder Club book 9: again, the story was ok, but the style and dialogue in these books is getting to me... it's almost too macho for a women's murder club
6. The new (er) Jennifer Weiner book- not bad- but not as happy as I was hoping for vacation
7. I forget what else right now- and my library account keeps closing on me!!
I just reserved the book Dexter, since I recently discovered the series and love it.

I have 2 books going right now.
One is Lamb: The Gospel According to Biff, Christ's Childhood Friend. This is a humorous book and last night I was cracking up when they explained that Josh (Christ) would eat Chinese food on his birthday and that the tradition continues today for many Jews. Haha, I grew up eating Chinese food every Christmas Day.
The other is called Breakthroughs. It is a compilation of teachers' essays about teaching writing.
Currently reading Heart of the Matter by Emily Griffin. I started reading on Friday and am almost finished this beautiful weather makes me want to sit outside and read!!

I am STILL slogging through The Piano Teacher. It really is interesting, but I have spent too much time on other things to get through it quickly. Since school ends this week, and I start my summer hours, I'm looking forward for a lot more time to read!
I just finished this a few weeks ago. I really like it. Definitely doesn't end the way you think it will (like most of her books!) I was hooked all the way to the end.
I recently (like a week ago) finished the third book in Nora Roberts Bride Quartet (titled Savor the Moment). These are the first Nora Roberts books I've read, and they have been good. Quick, easy, fun reads.
I'm currently reading Alone by Lisa Gardner - it's a suspense/mystery type book. I'm only a few chapters in, but it's good so far.
I just finished The Art of Racing in the Rain. It was a wonderful book. It's actually told from the perspective of a dog named Enzo. I heard it recommended on the nest book club board, so I decided to check it out. I'm soo glad I did!
I just started reading Letters From Home by Kristina McMorris. Another book I saw recommended on the book club board. I'm only in a couple chapters, but so far so good.
I love Jodi Picoult! I just finished up Handle with Care by her. Super good!
Last night I bought my first Kindle book! I'm reading Heaven is for Real by Todd Burpo. I've heard really great things about it and I'm already really into it. And I'm really liking the Kindle so far too!
