iPad vs. Nook

OK so I already have an iPad.  I just recently won a color Nook through a raffle at a Baby Expo I attended last week.  And honestly, other than the awesomeness of winning something like a Nook, I cant find anything a Nook can offer that the iPad already doesnt, therefore I'm considering selling it...

So, am I missing something?  Is there anything so absolutely fantastic about a Nook that makes it better than my iPad that I should keep it for myself and enjoy all of its wonders?  Or is it going to just collect dust while I continue to play with my iPad?

Of course, all of this could be moot if anyone wants a color Nook -- $200 and it's yours! ;D

Re: iPad vs. Nook

  • a regular Nook and I'd say yes - the screen is more book-like and not back lit, so it's easier to read than a computer screen.  But the color ones (I'm pretty sure) are back-lit and more computer screen-like.  So no, not really much difference than your ipad.

Thats what I'm thinking.  Looking over it, yeah its in color, and there are apps and email, but this is all old news to me... gods I feel like a snob right now, but its true.  Also, I can access Nook, Kindle, E-Books, and iBooks all through my iPad, so its not like I'm lacking for the e-book availability.

  • Yeah, me thinks you don't really need both.

If I didn't already have one I would totes take you up on that offer!

  • I agree, you don't need it.  The difference is the "e-ink" with the other readers but not with the color.  I also think you can probably craigslist it for more $ than $200.

Yeah and thats what I'll prolly do -- they go for $249 retail but I was going to give anyone here who may want it a discount ;)

just what I was going to say. I love my regular nook, but I'm really not a fan of the nook color. The one bonus the regular nook would have over your ipad is that you could read it in bright sunlight- but you can't with the nook color.

  • You could root it, and that would make it awesome.
