Salary requirements for cover letter
Hello everybody,
I work for the feds now but i'm applying to an private sector agency and they ask for salary requirements. The job i currently have now is in the same field as the new job and I don't know what salary I should put down. Is a price range acceptable? Or should I put a "X Dollars" but negotiable?
help!
thanks,
renebean
Re: Salary requirements for cover letter
I am doing the same thing - public to private sector. I would put a range and add that it is negotiable.
First, I would only include salary requirements in a cover letter if the posting specifically asks for them, otherwise leave it to the negotiation period.
If they do ask for salary requirements, I usually put something like, "My salary requirements begin at $XX,XXX, and are largely negotiable depending on the full package offered."
