Where in the world have you been with DH (or want to go)?

Going through pics of DH & I for the other post made me realize that DH and I have been many cool places together.  We haven't done as much traveling (for fun) the past year or so because of the wedding, saving up for house, and just all the back and forth travel between NY and MI.  Hopefully once we settle into house that will change.  So where have you been with your DH? Any upcoming trips?  Any destinations your are anxiously waiting to go to together? (some of our destinations one of us had a conference and the other tagged along)

Traveled together:

Niagara-on-the-Lake: January 2007

NYC: Feburary 2007

Re: Where in the world have you been with DH (or want to go)?

  • Our list sucks.  We don't travel much because I am super cheap when it comes to traveling.  But here it is:

    Puerto Vallarta - April 2006
    Boston - February 2007
    Cozumel - October 2010
Various trips throughout Texas, especially to the Hill Country, which we love!

I told you we are boring!

That's not boring. Hopefully you'll have many fun family vacations once Carter gets a older.  Most of our trips we were able to do fairly cheaply. We did most of our travel when both of us had incomes less than 25K. Travel is one of our favorite pastimes, so we try to budget for it. We got a house that was about half the cost of what the bank would have qualified us for so that we would be able to travel more.

  • We've been to NYC, Georgia, California, Oregon, Hawaii, South Carolina, Minnesota, and North Carolina.

We've traveled to a ton of other places too, but not together. It's a combination of getting time off work and amassing the money and the stress of traveling when all you really want is a staycation that has kept us for traveling together more. We spend so much of our time traveling to see family that we are a little traveled out when it comes to the prospects of more exotic locations. Our next big trip together (living continental US) will probably be Ireland, though probably not for a while.

    Lived:

    Finland (Helsinki--me, Pori--him)

    Miyagi, Japan

    Ontario, Canada

I've also lived in a number of places around the globe, but not with him.

We're also considering moving to Antarctica.  No, I'm not joking. I could potentially have work there if I apply to go, and he could to.  But we're not sure we really want to go.

    Travelled (together):

Across Finland (Helsinki, Espoo, Pori, Turku, Oulu, Jyv?skyl?, Sein?joki, Kauhava, Ii, Rovaniemi, etc)

Across Ontario (Windsor, Sarnia, London, Guelph, Toronto, Kawarthas, Uxbridge, Peterborough, Belleville, Niagara, Stratford, etc)

Across NE PA, and NY (though never been to NYC).

    Outer Banks NC

Across Japan (Daisetsuzan National Park in Hokkaido, Tokyo, Kyoto, Nara, Tottori, Sendai and a million other places in Tohoku region, Hiroshima, Osaka, Nikko, Izu Peninsula, etc)

Thailand (Bankok, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao)

South Korea (landed in Incheon, stayed in Seoul, day trip to Panmunjom)

I've been everywhere else in South and South-east Asia, but not with him.  He and I have both been everywhere in Europe, though not together. He's also travelled extensively across the US, and I've been across Canada.

In the very near future we'd like to go to Algonquin Park (Northern Ontario), and the east coast of Canada.

  • We've only known each other for two years, so our travel together has been fairly limited.

We've lived in Tulsa, OK. And that's it.

    We've traveled to:

    • New Orleans, LA
    • Dallas, TX
    • Madison, WI
    • St Thomas, VI
    imageBaby Birthday Ticker Ticker
  • We've only ever lived in New Orleans together.  DH is from Philly and went to college in S. Jersey and then moved to Nola.  I've lived in Nola my entire life (and went to college here).

    Visited together-

Philly countless times to visit DH's parents

NYC to visit DH's 2 brothers

    Phoenix to visit my bro

    Sedona

Atlanta to visit my sister when we evacuate for hurricanes

    Chattanooga, TN

Orlando- Kennedy Space Center/Disney (for a business trip- woop!)

    Pensacola, FL

Random spots in AL and MS (def not a vacation- LOL)

Dallas/Fort Worth for a Mud Run

Key West for our HM- was supposed to be Mexico, but a hurricane poo'd on that

That's it for together traveling.  We are going to the Finger Lakes/Niagara Falls for a wedding in July and we might try Vegas in the fall if I'm not KU!

  • We have know each other for 8 years but have only beet together for 2 so our list is very limited also.

We live outside of Davenport, Iowa (we are both from here and will probably never move)

    Blytheville, AR
    Memphis, TN
    Negril Jamaica
    Ocho Rios Jamaica
    Des Moines, IA (numerous times)
    Lake of the Ozarks, MO

We are planning another trip to the Ozarks for Labor Day and possibly a trip to northern MN to visit my grandparents. We are hoping to get back to Jamaica in February of next year but we will see what happens. I want to travel to Wales, my Godmother lives there and I would love to go visit her but I don't know if we can afford to have both of us take off work and go. I need to start saving my vacation days so we can take a big trip.

We also have dreams of visiting Fiji or Bora Bora, I think we will get there, but like above we need to start saving our pennies!

nfp - (caution, stereotype coming!) Canadians love their US shopping ;)  I work in a restaurant in Bangor (for less than two more weeks! eeeee!) and we get some maaaaaaaaajor shoppers.  :)  Like thousands of dollars of shopping, crazy.  Freeport's outlets are a.m.a.z.i.n.g.

Lived together: Bangor, ME and Weeki Wachee, FL

We've only been to Vegas and Bar Harbor, ME together (other than the occasional jaunt to Tampa or Portland, ME).

We'd love to go to Ireland someday.  I tried to talk him into eloping, he wasn't having it.

I don't like US shopping, as I find crossing the border obnoxious.  I do like online shopping though!  Also, Target is on it's way to Canada.  The company bought out 250 or so Zellers stores and will be coming here in 2013 I think.  (No thanks.)

Honestly, if you want to know I'll tell you.  I feel like so many of the things in that store are absolute junk made from China.  Being inexpensive doesn't mean stuff needs to be poor-quality.  I find the place depressing.  I'd much rather shop at local stores in my area.
