Cheap Carpet Recs?

My husband and I had to do some stuff in the basement and carpet needed to be ripped out.  We hope to remodel and add on in the next 2-3 years, but I would like to put down some carpet until we do that.  That said we really don't want to spend a lot of money on it.

Thoughts on Empire or any other place we can get cheap carpeting?

TIA!

Re: Cheap Carpet Recs?

  • I have only heard bad things about Empire, although I haven't used them myself.

One of our local nesties has a husband who installs carpet ... she might be able to make some suggestions. mgreenwalt? I think I have her screen name wrong ... hopefully she'll respond.

Last time I bought carpet it was at Home Valu Interiors, but they have since gone out of business, so that doesn't help. Sorry.

  • We just did 4 bedrooms in our new house. We found the best selection at Menards. They have quite a selection a few different types of carpet with an attached pad (great for DIYers). It does not last as long as stretched carpet but it will do the trick for us for now. We bought this stuff called volcano light pebble path which costs about $1.29/sq. foot. We managed to get it on sale for $.99 and then a week later it went on sale for $.69. We looked at Lowes and Home Depot but they never had anything in stock that we liked. Good luck!
