Non-Clicky Poll: What are you a snob about?
I saw this on my month board... what are you a snob about? Clothing? Food? Cars? Electronics?
As for me, I'm a meat snob. I rarely eat chicken or beef that isn't grass fed. I never buy chicken or beef from a regular grocery store (it grosses me out). I'm a wine snob. The nesties have definitely dubbed me this. I'm a Wal-Mart snob. I don't shop there and I won't shop there. Not even the "nice" ones.
Re: Non-Clicky Poll: What are you a snob about?
I'm also a clothes snob mainly with M's clothes. I don't like character (ie: Disney characters or sesame street) themed clothes. She does have an Elmo shirt but she just wears that around the house.
I'm an expiration date snob.
Really, I'm snobby about several things, but that's the only one I can really think of at the moment.
I'm a clothes snob when it comes to JJ. He has two sets of clothes: his play clothes and his nice clothes. I get his play clothes from Wal-Mart and his nice clothes from Baby Gap, Gymboree, order online etc.
I'm a snob when it comes to cleaning my place. I use certain brands of cleaners for certain parts of my apartment, clean in a certain order...and if that gets messed up, I get really mad. My poor H has been the brunt of that in the past.
Well, I am just snobby, in general.
Clearly, I am a bag snob - just about the bags I carry, tho, not about the bags others carry.
I am a wine snob. Anyone who claims a $12 bottle of wine tastes the same as a $100 bottle of wine has never had a $100 bottle of wine.
I am also a generic brand name snob - generic stuff from Target - I am cool with that. I am NOT okay with generic stuff from Wal-mart. I am sure it is exactly the same but the packaging at Target is SO much better.
And finally, an Oklahoma Company snob. I do whatever I can to support those companies that support Oklahoma and other Oklahoma companies. We have a lot of resources here and a lot of great companies - even if it costs more or I have to go out of my way - its always worth it to help out another Oklahoman.
I haven't shopped at a Walmart in 7 years. You can't make me.
I'm also snobby about food, though I'll fully admit to loving a couple of products that would make a *real* food snob gasp---Diet Coke and Baked Ruffles.
Finally, while it's not nice, I do judge people silently for certain grammar issues and word choice errors. I think the ones that grate on me above all others is "Seen" vs "Saw" and "Broke" vs "Broken" as in, "Yeah, I seen her getting a new concrete lawn ornament at the Walmart last week 'cause her old one got broke in the hail storm."
Edit: and I just noticed that I didn't fix my singular/plural when I added the "broke/broken" example. Done and done
Music is probably the big one for me. I love indie tunes, and I am not one of those people who looks down on others who enjoy mainstream music, but I have to have my iPhone hooked up in my car at all times, my iTunes going at work. I loathe listening to the radio (unless it's NPR).
I'm also kind of a car snob. My husband is super into cars, and it's kind of rubbed off on me. I don't judge a person based on what they drive, at all, but I am pretty picky about what we buy.
Oh man. This. I can't believe I forgot about this. My degree is in linguistics, and I got my start in advertising because I'm such a grammar nazi. Bad punctuation is annoying, too.
I guess I would have to be a snob about what I buy to decorate with. I only shop at certain stores for what I put in my house.
I am also a craft paint snob. I only Folk Art and no other brand even if the other brands are on sale I still buy Folk Art.
I think I'm just a snob in general.
I'm a house snob. Yes, we are renting right now, but we are in the starting process of building a home. My "must haves" for our new home are ridiculous and I know it.
I've never considered myself a car snob, but we just bought me a new car and the car buying process proved me wrong. I just couldn't imagine spending any amount of money on a car that wasn't considered a luxury vehicle. I don't judge other people's vehicles though.
I'm a yorkie snob.
I'm a cleaning snob. I get a bit judgey when I go to someone's house and it's messy. My house gets messy at times but when I know someone is coming over I make sure it's spotless.
I'm sort of an appearance/clothes clothes snob. I like to look nice. H would wear his workout clothes everywhere if I let him. I don't want people thinking we are trashy. I want to look presentable and professional at all times. I think this snobby part of me has a lot to do with the fact that I care way too much about what people think of me.
I'll admit to being a snob in general.
I'm snobby about "new money" status symbols: McMansions, decked out luxury cars, tacky "designer" logos, gaudy jewelry, etc. and pretentiousness in general. I am of the opinion that one should live modestly regardless of income. Sure, buy nice, quality items, have a gorgeous, tasteful home, take vacations, drive reliable and comfortable vehicles, but I have never felt one should blatantly showcase their wealth. Wear one or two pieces of classic jewelry, not blingin' diamonds on every body part.
ETA: I'm also snobby about restaurants. I think we should all support independently owned local restaurants.
