Gah! No I'm not pregnant nor did I eat a big lunch

I just went to drop off some paperwork at an office down the street and the man I was giving something to asked if I was carrying or did I have a big lunch. At first I thought he was asking if I was armed (haha) and then I realized he thought I was pregnant!

My advice to him...unless you see my child crowning whilst I squat on your desk, don't ask me if I am pregnant or indicate I have a large appetite...have a nice day! :-)

Blah...I know the dress I am wearing is a little fitted but I didn't think I looked pregnant in it...I guess this will stay in my closet for my non-work days...

    W.T.F?!

for real? I agree that you should never, ever, ever ask a woman if she's pg, but I could see how a (dumb) man might not realize how awful that is. But adding the bit about a big lunch???? holy cow...I might have throat punch him.

  • I wasn't sure if I wanted to laugh, cry, or opt for the throat punch :-)

Honestly...talk about two of the most sensitive things to women in correlation with the possiblity of looking "fat" and you are heading right down throat punch highway...

  • I got asked the same question last month from a woman at fed ex.  I was dropping off a package for work and she said let me get that it looks heavy and you need to be careful since you're expecting.  (that was news to me since I'm not).

That dress has since made it to the back of my closet and will not be seeing the light of day for a while.

I didn't know weather to laugh or cry... stunned was more the feeling.

  • A friend of mine at work had this happen a few weeks ago - she was wearing a shirt slightly more fitted than normal, and had several people ask.  She was mortified!

attention world: never, EVER ask a woman if she's pregnant, unless she's giving birth in front of you. :)

I will never understand why people think that it's okay to ask someone that. Especially a stranger. But actually asked if you ate a big lunch!? That's just bizarre.

I actually had a friend who, when she did eat a big lunch, said she had a "food fetus".

Is it just me, or is that disturbing?
