Re: CPW: Cats or Dogs

  • I am going to illegally ss here: I love cats. LOVE LOVE LOVE THEM. If you all come over for SAHW pool party, you will meet my cats and find out they have massive amounts of personality.

But..I am beginning to have a thing for dogs, too. Dasher is so naughty - poops and pees everywhere, takes off when we are trying to "walk" (and nearly threw out my back) and I am semi scared of her - but that huge snout and big ole tongue gets me everytime. Also, she is extremely deliberate with her huge ole paws - its so cute.

  • I love (and have) both, but cats are so much cleaner. Dogs are hard to keep clean, and every dog I've had emits an odor even after bathing. I guess I'm too much of a clean freak to be a dog person. I also like that cats are independent. Fiona, our cat, loves to be held, but she's totally cool with doing her own thing, too. I like that.

One of our dogs constantly tries to demand attention, but the other is very independent. Oftentimes while being petted, he'll just decide he's had enough after a few minutes and get up and walk back to his pillow.

  • I maintain that people who say they don't like cats have just not met the right cat for them. I like to cuddle my cats, and I have cats that like to lay in laps and even like to be cuddled for extended periods of time. I like animals that are independent when I need them to be, and so are my cats.

They also keep me warm in winter ;)

I agree with this. DH hated cats before he met me. Now, he's almost a 50% dog person, 50% cat person.

Yup - I agree too.  When DH and I met, he was a dog person.  I had a cat (God rest his soul, little Drools) and after one of our first dates, DH was hanging out on the couch and Drools crawled into his lap and started purring, and drooling, and smiling - DH had no idea cats did that.  My cats cuddle with us in bed, in fact, they make it pretty clear that is where they prefer to cuddle.  They are so loving and sweet, my little heart just can't stand it.  I think cats tend to take on the characteristics of their owners, too.  They love to kiss - LOVE to kiss - probably because DH and I make out all the time.  They are just so sweet!

Haha yeah, Tolstoy tries to make out with us. He'll let you hold him on his back (he insists upon it and will position himself that way), wrap his front legs around your neck, and lean in toward your mouth with his, and his is WIDE OPEN. It's so weird.
