MoCo Plumber Rec?

I seem to have a plumbing problem. I've been ignoring it as long as possible, but I think I actually have to take care of it at this point.

My basement drain is backing up, and puddling around the drain. It seems to happen when I do laundry. Tonight, there appeared to be a little bit of rice around the drain... so, I'm thinking this is probably a systemic problem, or a problem with the main drain line out.

WWYD (in a DIY sense) before calling a plumber?

And, if you have no ideas on DIY.... who would you call? Any good plumber recs out there???

We have used Mark Coleman a couple of times - once to snake the sink drain in our full bath and once to move a shutoff valve. He was very responsive and nice.

We used Kesterson Plumbing last week and was very happy with them. I found them on Angie's list with an A rating. They were out the next day and very professional and reasonabily priced.

We also used Dave from Aspen Hill Plumbing for a few different things off a nestie recommendation - he's always been able to come out and fix the issue quickly. He's also been helpful in telling us how we might be able to fix or diagnose the issue ourselves when it was something simple.

Oh, sorry, I just re-read your post....we had the issue one thanksgiving where our food that went down the garbage disposal in the kitchen sink came up the laundry drain in the basement too. We called Roto Rooter (before we had any nestie recs) it turned out there was a clog under the house in the main drainage pipe that they had to snake. If I remember right it was a couple hundred dollars, but it was also Thanksgiving.

I think I was the one who originally referred folks to Dave Glick at Aspen Hill Plumbing. We've used him several times and he's really great - and he's very reasonable. One of the few home improvement professionals we've really had luck with and would use again in a heartbeat. Good luck.
