Do you think Obama will offer McCain a position?

and more importantly, would he accept? Last night I saw the old McCain - which wasn't so bad. He could be a very good alley for Obama.

Re: Do you think Obama will offer McCain a position?

  • I would lose respect for Obama if he did.  McCain referred to him as, "That One."  Would you ever in your life hire someone who talked about you like that?  To your face?

And while McCain did give a classy speech last night, I'll grant him that, it does not undo all the nastiness, personal vitriol and shady practices he allowed to be used in his name.

  • Dear God I hope not. ?The GOP needs his Senate seat.
  • And come on now. One nice speech does not erase months of reprehensible behavior nor does it erase a complete difference in ideology. McCain didn't run as the man he showed us last night. So who is the real McCain anyway?  It would be a horrible, horrible mistake for Obama to even contemplate this.
  • UNCLE! I see I was naive in my contemplation!

Sorry! It's a good thought for academic purposes! Wink

  • I don't see that happening plus I would rather hold on to his GOP senate seat.

As far as the nasty campaigning, hey Hillary & Obama sure got nasty during the primaries and yet they came together after it. In some ways it is just the nature of political campaigns.

    Amen.

As I posted earlier, the real McCain chose this path.  Whether he can show a side with class and integrity sometimes is irrelevant.  He chose to run a dirty race-baiting campaign.  The man does not deserve a place in this administration.

I was actually going to say something about how he didn't offer HRC the VP spot.

And there is a difference to the political expediency of getting your party elected.

Finally, I didn't follow Obama vs. HRC too closely but I'm pretty dang sure she never said he was trying to teach sex to kindergarteners.

True. But this is apples and oranges. HRC and BHO come from the same party and align eye-to-eye on many core issues. The same cannot be said for Obama and McCain. As such a natural extension of coming togetherness is not really the same scenario with McCain and Obama.

  • No. I think it would be pretty much the worst decision Obama could make.

I was going to say no, but this is a fantastic idea.

  • I was going to say the only thing I think McCain is good for at this point is Social Security.
