Father's day gift ideas?

Any thoughts?  My poppa is in SD, so it will be mailed.  Last year was easy since I had just gotten married...standard framed photo of the father/daughter dance.

I'm thinking a card and a movie sized box of his fav candy...

Re: Father's day gift ideas?

  • Does your dad read books? Books are an easy gift to mail.

I often get my dad books on military history, he's really into WWII history. My FIL likes religious devotional books, so we have given him some of those. No matter what your dad's hobbies or interests are, there are probably books he would enjoy. Sports ... music/movies/entertainment ... photography ... travel ... cars ... gardening ... woodworking ... cooking ... wine ... there has to be something appropriate for pretty much anyone at a book store :-)

  • I was just checking out Patina's online ideas http://www.patinastores.com/catalog/spring/father-s-day-1.html

Most are pretty silly.  I'd go with music, books, liquor (hard to ship).  Penzeys spice kits are often good too.  You know him best though and who doesn't like candy?!

  • I've never heard of Patina....I like!  He is a hunter/tennis guy and I got him grilling stuff for xmas with a ManCave Groupon.  He did just get a nook color, so I suppose a GC would do.
  • We bought DH's dad a headlamp for his birthday, a nicer one from REI.  He loved it. Headlamps are super handy for working on cars, cleaning under the stairs, walking at night, camping, etc.  We ended up buying another one to give to my dad for father's day this month :-)  I think he'll like it!

  • Dave Ryan talks about www.berries.com. They have a deal of 2 lbs for bing cherries for $19.99 for Father's Day. Click on the microphone and put in "Dave Ryan" to get the deal. I think I might do this for my dad. He loves food, so at least this food is good for him. LOL.

    HTH.
