Tell me what to make with lentils

For some reason, I bought a bag of lentils a while ago. I am going through our pantry trying to clean it out and use up food (our - or should I say DH's - current idea is to only buy what we need as we need it - for the most part - so as to not waste so much food - which we tend to do often so I figured might as well use up some of this crap - I mean yeah we buy in bulk but do we really need six pounds of red beans??).

So yeah - tell me what to make with these. I have never cooked or even eaten them before. I have one pound. Help?

Lentil soup - love lentil soup. You cook the lentils in water I think for like an hour, and then add spaghetti. I'll see if I can dig out my mommy's recipe.

We usually make curried lentils and serve them over brown rice and then also have a veggie to go with it. What kind of lentils are they? red, green, brown?

All I can think of is chocolate covered lentils, but is that even the same type of lentil?? Maybe I need to go eat lunch and have a chocolate fix myself. LOL

Hubs likes making this one side dish that uses bacon, some maple syrup...it's one of the few lentil dishes I like. I'll hunt around and see if I can find the recipe.
