Father's Day

Anyone excited with a good Father's Day gift this year?

DH and I are going to be gone over Father's Day so we're thinking about doing something with our dads after we get back (they're both hard to buy for and really enjoy just going to dinner, movie, etc... rather than getting gifts).  Still trying to think of other ideas though because I'd like to leave something here for them to have on Father's day if possible.

Re: Father's Day

  • My dad is hard to buy for and when I ask him he suggest a package of white socks.  This year he is working on cleaning out the shed for his own workshop, so we may get him something for his future work space.

This is our first Father's Day as a family!  I'm getting my husband a framed picture of E and I for his desk.  And if he's really lucky a weed eater :)

  • My stepfather is tricky. I feel like we get him the same stuff every year for celebrations. I'll have to ask my mom what she thinks. We usually get him a new shirt or a gift card to dunkin donuts (he adores their coffee) or a gift card to a sporting goods store for hunting. DH hates giving gift cards because he says they aren't personal but sometimes I just don't have a better gift!

  • Do they love any of your homemade baked goods?  Or do they enjoy a hard to find kind of beer/wine/chocolate/food/anything?  My dad is impossible, and we never do anything other than cards for FIL (because he wants nothing).

    Matt loves Munkii!!!
  • I'm slowly transitioning over to experiential gifts for my parents.  They just don't need much lately.  Mother's Day - we took my mom to a drive in diner she wanted to go to and then went for a walk around a local lake.  I think I am going to offer to go over and make dinner for my Dad this year.  Last year we got him a new bird feeder for their cabin which they needed because theirs had been attacked by bears one too many times and wasn't really repairable anymore.
  • I decided on making a cheesecake for my dad.  He loves them and because he tries to be healthy never really indulges anymore.  So he'll hate me and love me for it at the same time.  Smile

We're still up in the air for FIL... we'll see what happens in the next few days.
