f/u - tattoos

so, i have 2, but technically it's 3.

1st - i was 19 and got a red heart on my ankle. come to find out, i was allergic to the red dye and it kind of morphed into a blob.

2nd - i have a tramp stamp - got it long before that was the "in" tattoo. it's just a small design that i really like

3rd - went with my h to get my blob fixed. the tattoo place did a really nice job fixing the tattoo and now it's just a better heart (without the red) with a design. i love it.

now, i want to get a small cross on the upper portion of my back, right below my neck - kind of at the base of my neck. i would love to get it where my hair would cover the tatt, but what if i cut all of my hair off?? i don't want it prominently displayed. kwim? so i'm thinking right below my shirt line.

anyone else have tattoos? what do you have? do you want more? general thoughts on tattoos??

Re: f/u - tattoos

  • I have 2. I have one on my hip that is a gecko (had it for about 16-17 years or so) with it's tail wrapped around a ying yang. The other one is on my lower back.. an inch or two higher than a tramp stamp (I have had it for maybe 13 years?). It's a sun/moon thing I designed. I often forget I even have them. I really had no intention of getting another tattoo.. and I probably won't. But, I have kind of thrown around the idea of something in honor of my daughter. Maybe the flower of her birth month? Of course, if I have 10 kids or something, that would be a lot of body art because I wouldn't want to leave anyone out. Haha..

I have two.  One on my foot, it's my brother's initials (he died a few years ago) and the other one is on my wrist that says Guidance.

i think you should totally get it at the base of your neck....even if you cut your hair super short, you could always wear a necklace or a scarf if you REALLY didn't want it shown.

but if you get a kate gosselin haircut...we might stop being friends ;)

i've been toying with the idea of one lately...DH has always wanted a phoenix (either tribal or color) on his shoulder...so i keep trying to talk him into it. i'd get the word faith in a pretty, scripty font on the inside of my wrist.

i only worry about this when i am a 70 year old walking around with my granny bob and cross tatt sticking out...

then you will be a totally awesome 70 year old...AND be allowed to talk sh!t to anyone who side-eyes you =)

plus, by then they'll probably have some magic phone app to remove your tattoos anyhow...lol.

  • I don't have any. Sometimes, I think I would like one small meaningful one but

    1) I'm indecisive and would constantly change my mind about what I want the design to be and then end up getting bored with it (I think)

    2) I'm afraid of what it will look like once I get old or have babies

DH has some. He really wants to do a sleeve which I think is cool but I'm advising him not to as I'm sure he doesn't want to have to wear long sleeves to work every single day of the year.

  • Right now I have two.  I am actually going to get my third this weekend for my birthday!  I have our anniversary on my ring finger.  It's perfectly positioned so when I have my ring on you cannot see it.  I have my two dogs' paw prints on my left ankle.  It's exactly 25% of their actual paw print.  I am getting a celtic dolphin on the top of my right foot this weekend.  I want a cross on my neck at the bast of my hairline, right where my "neck" starts.  I also want a Gemini sign on my right hip with two hibiscus flowers coming through it.

I've thought about all the "what ifs".  What if I get old and wrinkly?  What if I have a baby?  What if people judge me?  Who cares.  I'm doing it for me, for this moment in my life.  Who knows if I'll even make it to be old and wrinkly and be the "grandma with tattoos."  Or even be able to have kids.  I'm doing it for the present, the part of me right now that wants tattoos, not the future that is so uncertain.

These are also my issues. I do not have any, but I am not opposed to get one or two. I just worry about placement and how they will look over time.
