I just got a call from the vet and she is diagnosing her with Lyme disease. The bloodwork came out positive for exposure and she has the exact symptoms of the disease. Apparently, the Lyme vaccines for dogs are only 80% effective. We'll start both dogs on a rotation of Frontline and Revolution every two weeks, so they'll be treated twice a month vs just once during heavy tick season. Lily will be on antibiotics for 3 weeks to fight it off and apparently relapses in dogs with Lyme disease are pretty rare and we most likely won't have to worry about lasting joint issues.
She was a bit better this morning, so hopefully she starts feeling better soon. We take her in next week for a follow-up to make sure everything is looking better.
Re: Lily update
I've been told that there are a lot of false positives with the test as well as false positives because of the vaccine. Our family dog a few years ago tested positive but she never had the disease. I hope she starts feeling better soon!
Ditto his. I hope she starts feeling better soon!
