breastfeeding question.

I have been bf since day one and kiley is 9 1/2 months, for about the past 1-2 months i have supplemented formula because I can not pump nearly enough to keep up with her.  Well today I was greeted with the wonderful presence of my period. ugh.   So my question is, does this mean my supply has dropped too much that I can not keep up with feeding her?  Does that make sense?  I was hoping to make it to 12 months even if I had to supplement with some formula.

Re: breastfeeding question.

  • A supply drop with your period is usually only temporary and your supply should go back to regular after your period. Just keep on pumping and breastfeeding!

FWIW, I got my period at 11 months PP and I still breastfeed and pump (DD is 17 months)

  • Like Jennrs said it's only a temporary drop.  I would keep breastfeeding as much as possible.. during those times of supplement especially.  I got mine at 10 months with DS1 and 8 months with DS2 and went 13 months 100 percent.  Don't give up!
