If I was going to take on another kiddo...

I've been thinking about this forever. G loves other kids and would love someone around all the time to play with. I've watched other kids every once in awhile, but I've been really considering watching 1 other kid-around 2/3 years old.

Here are my questions...how would I get the word out? And is it unreasonable to want to continue story time, music, going to the park, etc? I'd love to still take G (and the other child) to these events but I'm sure how their parents would feel.  thoughts?

  • Our 1st provider and our current provider both made it clear to us when we interviewed them that they do take field trips that involve riding in the car.  They also made sure to tell us they had appropriate car seats they would use.  We were okay with that.  I would just be really up front about it and say you don't want to be confined to your house.  We signed a waiver that said Natalie was allowed to travel in the car with them.

I would start here and also spread the word to your friends.  That way if anyone is looking, they can give your name.

  • Ditto about the in-home interviews and the providers being up front about field trips in the car.  Definitely a good thing to tell potential moms and dads.  Another place to consider "advertising" is Craig's List.  There are lots of daycare/inhome/nanny listings on there.  If you only want to take on 1 child, I bet you could find one just through friend's word of mouth or putting a small sign in your front yard.  Do you guys attend a church regularly?  Maybe a notice on the bulletin board there?

  • Are you looking to take on a child full-time?

I have an adorable 2.5 year old boy who needs a new daycare and you happen to live close to my work...Just sayin :)

  • Yup, just be up front about it! I got both of the little guys I watch off of here kind of :-). H's mom is actually happy that I was willing to leave the house with him. I am not brave with all 4 yet, but I will be! I have to get Ella back and forth to preschool, so I will be traveling with 4! I think with just one kid, if the parents want them in a small individualized environment, then going to the park and story time will be what they want!

I was thinking of you when I posted this-but I thought for sure you would have found someone already!

See, look how easy that was!  Wink

And I'm totally cool with Ally taking Cam out and about once she can brave it!
