Spicing the board up a bit...
Since we've been super slow....
Name 5 totally random things about yourself...
Re: Spicing the board up a bit...
ohhhhh fun!
1. Once I was "kidnapped" while christmas caroling with girl scouts in a nursing home. the woman was calling me her daugher's name, locked me in her room, and they were knocking on her door to try to get me out.
2. I once punched a boy in the stomach in fourth grade because he wouldn't leave me alone. he was trying to set up a "trick or treating" date haha.
3. I found out my hair was wavy after sleeping on it wet one night freshman year of high school. I realized it was so much easier than trying to dry my hair straight every day, especially because it was always so poofy. someone actually called me mufasa once.
4. sometimes, when i hear a really powerful song on the radio in the morning on the way to work, I get really emotional. I think to myself, "damn! these kids are going to learn math today! I'm going to be awesome!" hahahaha
5. I was in anger management in high school. I actually ran into my brother's bedroom door once and broke it. i think it was a mixture of hormones and an anxiety disorder that I wasn't diagnosed with until sophomore year of high school.
Melko, your number four is adorable! I don't know if I can think of five things...
1. I don't know if I mentioned this way back when we were planning the wedding, but my senior year roommate in college tried to kill me, well, almost literally. She was always sick and kept trying to find new ways to infect me. She turned the sani-cycle off on the dishwasher which led to me catching a virus from her that has permanently ruined my gall bladder.
2. On a simillar note, the *** gave me such anxiety that I ended up calling my mother crying almost every single day, begging for them to pick me up on the weekends like I was some scared five year old at sleep away camp. I was twenty-two for godssakes! I had to spend my last semester at home and missed all the senior year activities.
3. I wish I was friends with my cousin. We only saw each other at holiday time growing up and then when we got older, not even then. We are the same age and even went to the same college, but never became friends. My side of the family thinks her side is weird, and visa versa. But I still we we could have been besties. I don't think we have too much in common, but when I look in the mirror sometimes I see her in my face.
4. My depression is getting way worse.
5. My only good pair of jeans don't really fit anymore, but I keep stuffing myself into them anyway.
...damn, all five of my things are super depressing. Sorry

1. I have a wicked hot temper like my dad, which worries me that I have some early onset type 2 diabetes, hormonal imbalance.
2. When I was little I was home one afternoon with my brother and was convinced without a shadow of a doubt that dinosaurs were going to come back that day and eat us all. We used to live in the woods and I sat by the window all afternoon watching the woods for them.
3. I may have dated a guy 4 years my junior in high school because he looked like John Cusack in Say Anything. (I was a senior, he was a freshman).
4. I love rocking out in the car and sometimes hope it makes the people around me in traffic laugh at my foolishness, because I love when I see other people rocking out.
5. I want to get my nose pierced when I turn 30. What else are you supposed to do when you turn 30??
my blog
Hmmmmmmm.....
1. There is a statue in Norway of my Great x3 Grandfather. My parents & grandparents took a trip to Norway and they were able to get some special tour because of the lineage. The guy did something to help Norway gain independence, or something. They learned on the tour that the guy was famous for being unfaithful, so most likely we're related via his mistress rather than his wife. LOL.
2. I spent the last couple of weeks crying over the idea of being apart from DH during the week. Now that he is away I feel pretty ok with it. I mean, I miss him like crazy. But I'm not bursting in to tears constantly. I am uber excited to see him Friday though!
3. I'm a pilots daughter, but petrified of flying. I do it when I have to, but I'm a mess a good bit of the flight. Except for the decent, that's the only time that I am ok and can watch out the window. Weird!
4. Once, a groundhog climbed up under the hood of my car and settled in around my engine. More like, it got stuck. It chewed through the wires and when I parked my car it acted funny and wouldn't turn back on (the engine wouldn't even start, the dashboard would light up that was it). Finally, after trying a bunch of things I popped the hood. A groundhog sat up and I proceeded to scream my head off while it stared at me. It jumped out and ran off. My car had to be towed and cost me $200 to fix. The mechanics got a good laugh out of me, and out of being able to put "groundhog damage" on the invoice!
5. People that excessively mooch of their parents, especially after they get married, drives me absolutely BSC!
6. On my father's side, I'm related to Johannes Kepler! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johannes_Kepler
...and John Hancock by marriage.

Belle, you have to play, too!
1. I got my first (and only, so far!) tattoo when I was 16 because my BFF and I were looking for something to do. I still don't regret it! I'm planning my second, but don't know when I'll get around to doing it since I'll probably have to avoid running for a bit (I want it on my foot).
2. I can't listen to any sporting event on the radio - and not for lack of trying! My brain automatically zones out, and I can't concentrate. I think it's because my dad listened to so much sports talk radio in the car when I was a kid.
3. I make the best Irish Soda Bread. Well, me AND my mom, since we have the same recipe.
4. I have 18 first cousins - all on my Mom's side.
5. I am probably the least picky eater, ever; I will eat almost anything - and so will H (probably because we were both fat kids). It makes for very easy no-fuss meals at our house, but when it comes to choosing what we want or where we want to go, it kind of sucks!
Mine are kind of boring

I love this! I still really want my nose pierced - and tons of tattoos, too - but I worry about it being accepted in my career. A nose piercing will be perfect when you are a super-successful photog!!
ME TOO. I also don't understand people that still live at home, with no living expenses, that make as much or more than I do but complain about how broke they are. Homeslice, I make next to nothing and have a mortgage but still can have fun. You're doing the whole "adulthood" thing wrong!

1. My dad's side of the family is super close. My 5 cousins could pretty much be my siblings even though we all grew up in different states. I really want my kids to grow up that way with their cousins (and by that I mean my cousins kids too, not just my sisters babies).
2. When I was in second grade I won first place in Odyssey of the Mind at States and we competed at Nationals and got third (big nerd here).
3. I danced for 21 years and really miss it. I sit in front of the TV at night and stretch and do barre work on the back of the couch.
4. I have 10 piercings and 1 tattoo and have plans for another tattoo eventually.
5. I love to travel internationally but have never been west of Ohio within the U.S. There are tons of places I'd like to go but haven't gotten the chance yet.
omggg guys, these are so good and SO random! I love it. Okay, mine...
1. I hate mashed potatoes and soda. Two of the most common things, ever.
2. When I was little I was scared of being shot. I always heard about shootings in the news. I went into the city often, which is where they always happened, according to the news, {and you know, I was little so according to me everything happened in the same place}, so I used to layer my clothes because I thought if I got shot the bullet couldn't go through so many layers. I was protected.
3. Growing up I have always lived in the same general area, and growing up I've always wanted to leave and move into Manhattan. I did, and got over it soooo quickly {less than 3 years}. Now, I'm sort of loving the area I grew up in, but I know that's just because it's familiar. I hate change.
4. I've had more than my fair share of 15 minutes of fame. Back in High School and College I was really into the whole celebrity scene. I ran into them all the time and went to so many events/shows. I could write a book, but I never would. Although I do have a scrapbook of memories and mementos from this time, I'm embarrassed by a lot of it and don't really talk about it anymore. One of the more random things was for a good year it felt like Britney Spears and I would randomly run into one another without trying. It all started from when I went to see Rent on Broadway when Joey from *NSYNC was in it, and she was sitting in front of us with her sister, mom, and cousin. And then another time, at the end of the night I ended up back in her hotel room... I happened to be staying in the room across the hall...at the end of the night, before I left her room, I took the card that was in the flowers Donald Trump sent her {we were staying at a Trump hotel} because I thought the stationary was pretty...don't ask lol... and it's the only thing I've ever stolen in my life.
5. I was an extra in a movie that my brother had a major speaking role in. Since then, I do whatever I can to avoid a camera and be seen on TV/Film/Magazines, which is super easy now that I'm over that stage and haven't stayed in touch with many of my old friends from that time.... except for a couple of years ago when my face ended up in a teen magazine being pictured with Selena Gomez on the set of a movie she was filming... it was a total fail on my part and I made sure no one I knew saw the issue. My blog has been so great for me. However, I still only share it with strangers... no one I know has ever seen it.
belle, that is some spice!! I have to admit I am a little fascinated.
@noron and @musgral pics of your tats? I am so afraid to ever get one, I don't think I would unless it was something super meaningful like a tribute to a loved one or something.
@panda *hugs* I love your karma story. I know it's in another thread, but it made me laugh.
@carcrash I don't think I could deal with my dad being a pilot. I am scared of flying. I hate landing, I think it's the worst (even worse than turbulence).
my blog
If it weren't for him flying I would be far worse. When I do fly I spend the entire time reminding myself that he has been flying commercial planes for 25+ years and is still telling the tale. If it's a particularly rough ride, I immediately call him to inquire about what went on so he can explain to me how normal and non threatening it is. I also scan the plane to find a fellow pilot that is "dead heading" (flying in coach with passengers, on their way to begin a trip or just finishing and on their way home) and watch them any time I feel anxious to see what they are doing. As long as they are calm, sleeping even, during turbulence then I can calm down some. If there was something wrong, they would know something wasn't right. LOL. I can zip through airports like none other, from growing up traveling so much and at the drop of a hat, but once I get on the plane I'm a mess! DH is no better, so we don't help each other out very well during the flight!
Melko, okay, the kidnap thing is really creepy! I would have been freaking out! I love your #4.
Pands, HUGS!!!! If you're getting worse have you tried talking to a professional? I used to go to one all the time for my anxiety and it helped SO SO SO much. Sometimes I want to go back just because I miss her! Also, my jeans are the same way, but I'm past the point of squeezing in
... and how the heck are you able to trace back your family that far? I don't think I could go back past my great grandparents!
Shazzie, your #2 is adorable!
carcrash, hugs for your #2
... also, you would hate me... I don't mooch of my parents but I rely on them so much still! I talk to my mom like 5 times a day and my cell is still under their account so they just pay it still.
Noron, I can't listen to sports radio either!
musgral, I remember odyssey of the mind! I used to dance too! What kind did you do? I did ballet, tap, and jazz! I miss it too!
I did ballet, tap, and jazz too! Ballet was my favorite and the one I miss most though, I still have my pointe shoes hanging in my closet
I tried seeing a therapist a couple years ago. I started with a therapist in training and she was terrible and then the practice couldn't find a replacement so I was being bounced around every week. It's hard to make progress when you have to start from the beginning every time. I gave up on that and tried drugs, but it turns out I have bad reactions to SSRIs and I guess there aren't too many anitdepression/anxiety drugs that aren't SSRIs. H wants me to try something or another, I forget the name, but after the reaction I had to celexa I'm kind of wary.
Anyway, we can't trace our family back that far, but because the dude was kind of famous, his name keeps being told to each generation. It get complicated once my family came over to the US because they changed the last name at the border and we don't know what they shortened it from. Then on my mothers side they wrote down the wrong country of origin, so that gets complicated on that side.

@belle: whoa!
#6 I'm related to braveheart by marriage, but DH is super embarassed by it. I think it's bada$$.
