Anyone here a Physical Therapy Asst? Or went back to school for healthcare?
I am considering going back to school for PTA. I am in my early 30's, and already have a BA. I was just wondering if anyone here worked in this field, and how you felt about it, regarding hours, salary, if you truly enjoy it, where you work.
There are a ton of SNF's in my area, so I do think the job market for this will continue to grow, but am wondering how difficult it is as a PTA to get in with a peds department or sports medicine.
I have to admit I feel a little weird about going to school for an AS degree in my 30's, but I am hoping there will be some "older" people in class with me!
Thanks!
Re: Anyone here a Physical Therapy Asst? Or went back to school for healthcare?
Hi! I'm not going to school for PT, but I thought that our situations were somewhat parallel and figured I'd respond. I have an AA and a BA. I am in my 30's and recently went back to school PT for something else in the medical field (this will be a career change for me) Many of the people in my classes are older than I am. Also, even if they are younger, the ones who actually make it into the actual PT program will be serious students (at least from what I see where I am). Also, I am going back for my second AA. My plan would be to get a job in the medical field and eventually go back online or in person for my second BS and most jobs pay for it.
I would have considered the PT program or the OT program where I am, but none of the colleges here offer an evening program for those and I am working and going to school PT.
