Moleson (and other Extreme Coupon fans)
Rich and I watched the show for the first time on Thursday. Holy cow, they are serious about couponing.
I still don't understand how they their groceries free. Say there is an item for $2.00 and you have a $1.00 coupon, the item would then be $1.00. So how are they getting that item free? Are they using two $1.00 coupons? That stumped us.
We're also going to try to figure out how to order coupons. We want to be not so extreme couponers.

Re: Moleson (and other Extreme Coupon fans)
This. I worked in a grocery store in High School we double any coupon under a dollar.
I was watching it on wednesday and the women ended up getting money back and Greg was like we need to start clipping coupons. Which I do agree then I informed him I work fulltime and these people spend 40+ hours preparing for their shopping trips.
Okay that makes sense. We were scratching our heads trying to figure out how they did it...lol.
On one of the episodes we watched, the couponer donated to the local food bank and humane society. I thought that was awesome and much better than having thousands of dollars worth of product in your garage.
Also, if you have a $2 item, and a $1 off coupon. That item is on sale for $1.50 and you can double your coupon. Some stores will let you use that $.50 they "owe" you towards the rest of your balance. Which is how they buy stuff like produce that you don't generally get coupons for.
ETA: Not all stores let you "earn" money on coupons like that. DH used to work for a grocery store and when he saw that was all "I didn't think any stores allowed that anymore".
Did y'all see this?

Basically, one of the people on the Extreme Couponing show had put up a YouTube video previously, showing how she commits coupon fraud, and people have caught her doing the same thing on the show. She uses coupons for one item, on a different item from the same manufacturer - usually, the coupon is for a more expensive item (i.e. $2 off a $6 item) so if you use it on a cheaper item you can get a much better deal (even free).
She claims that she's not doing anything wrong, even though it's clearly against the terms written out on the coupons and may cost the store money (which can then be translated to higher costs for customers). Apparently supermarket employees have told her it's ok, but it seems like those people don't know what they're talking about.
hey! I'm a little late on this. But yeah it can be overwhelming at first. Our store here will double up to $1, but you can only double 5 coupons at a time, and in order to double, your order has to be at least $25.
I highly recommend finding out your store's coupon policy.
