Housewarming gift?

We have housewarming/birthday party to go to next weekend and I'm looking for cute ideas for a housewarming gift. I don't want to do just a bottle of wine and my friend said, when asked, that she'd like anything from throw pillows to picture frames since they are going from a 2 bedroom condo to a 5 bedroom house she has lots of space to fill and not a lot of things to fill it with! So, any suggestions?

Re: Housewarming gift?

  • I'd buy a cute frame or maybe a collage frame and fill with pictures of you together/ special things for her.

  • 2 of my best friends are moving this month. One I just got a gift card because I gave it before she moved, and didn't want her to have to pack it, and the other I got some seeds and a little garden shovel and kneeling mat thing because now they have a yard. I still want to get her something else though, possibly either furniture/decor stuff because they'll have SO much more space, or kitchen stuff, because now they have both a full kitchen and a small kitchen in the basement/inlaw apartment.

  • I would get her a gift card...unless you really know her style or something specific that she wants. To make it more personal, you could put together a basket with a candle, wine, a throw blanket, cookies/chocolate, a few inexpensive kitchen items and throw the gift card in the basket with all that:)
  • If you want to get her pillows or something specific, I'd give a gc for that. You could even include a note to let her know exactly what it's for. If you want to buy something, picture frames or even larger decorative accessories (assuming you know her style/colors) would be great. If you know a specific home related hobbies of hers, you could make a gift basket for that. Like kitchen or gardening gadgets for a chef/gardener, or like Rach said a basket with a throw, candle, wine, maybe comfy socks, for a reader. My only other suggestion would be something for outside, if they have a yard. Pier 1 has some adorable planters, garden stakes, wind chimes, bird houses etc. They probably won't have had any of that stuff in their condo and having a yard for the first time is exciting.
  • Thanks for the suggestions ladies. I think I'm going to go to HomeGoods this weekend with these things in mind and if I don't find any"thing" to buy them then a gift card is always appreciated!

DD- I was thinking along the lines of outdoor stuff; they bought a new patio set for their deck so I was thinking some outside-friendly dining accessories might be fun.
